Out of the box, they fit like trash. So unless you stretch/trim/staple the hell out of them, you get an aftermarket half-assed fit look. It's not that I "mind" the work. It's that you're basically paying for a square of leather that you must modify to hopefully look decent. Add in that shiftstyle doesn't carry an even close match for the factory tan color and

Ok, I'll update you guys with the info I have. I was the one that sent the ebrake assembly to ShiftStyle. I shipped it out last Wednesday and he should have received it that Friday. I PM'ed him asking if he has received my ebrake, but no response yet. That's all I have. Just know that he shoulddd have an ebrake to work on at the moment. I'll update you guys when he replies to my PM.

Yes, please do....

Nope, didn't use any glue. Just tacked-in a couple of "anchor" staples at the back of the covers and pulled-stapled from there. You have to pull the cover tight, hold it with one hand, and staple with the other. If you've ever recovered a motorcycle seat, you'll know what I'm talking about. Make sure you anchor the staples into the flat edge of the rubber cover.

you guys should give them time- they are obviously working on the Ebrake covers that everyone keeps demanding and you're now upset that he isnt on the forums 24/7. Noone else has come to us offering such products at all so atleast give them some credit and if you don't like them, don't buy them. That simple.

Let's hope they will be able to come out with a good e-brake handle cover / boot.

I'd also agree though that seeing how much persuasion is needed to get the covers fit right and look good, the $75 shipped price (incl. discount) isn't exactly cheap
Still, I'll probably be up to the challenge to get them and make them look perfect. Just have to get myself a staple gun as it seems (further increasing the cost )
Oh well... I'm patiently waiting for the e-brake cover.
The one thing that bothers me is that I'm not sure if the stitching color should be red or burgundy... the red thread really appears to be a bit too light (pinkish?) to match the red leather, and the burgundy might be too dark

I for one am not upset he isn't posting just worried that the project will fall between the cracks ya know. I for sure am 100% still interested inthe brake handle and boot.

I think his stuff is pretty good from the looks of it. I know there are concerns w/the arm rest but you aren't gonna get perfect fitment "out the box" as mentioned before. It will take a lil work to get it to fit snug etc. But over from what i see his stuff is quality and i absolutely love my shift boot.

Personally I think the ebrake handle should be a piece that we sew on. The sewing thread should probably be a lil thicker to withstand being grabed and moved from daily driving. Sort of the idea w/the leather wraps for steering wheels So it has a nice stitching on either the top or bottom of the handle. The edges of the handle should be leather rolled in to give it a nice finished look.

As per the ebrake boot my understanding is that it should just slip on or once again since the smaller opening, the area of the ebrake boot is exposed to see maybe a portion of it should be sew on as well...once again the edge of the exposed portion of the ebrake boot cover should also be rolled to give it a nice finished look.

I think if it is velcro the handle may move around unless people use that "concat cement" to hold it in place.

I agree with klepto's suggestions, however the stitching on the e-brake handle should definitely be on the top. Basically, ShiftStyle should take a look at the photo of the factory leather e-brake option, and mimic it as closely as possible.
I would probably also want to glue the e-brake handle wrap, to avoid any slippage.

We are working on the e-brake right now.

As for the console covers, we make them in a way that you can install them yourselves, without having to go through the trouble of sending them to us to fit them on. That would cost you a lot more in time and money, which is what we tried to prevent for you.

It's nearly impossible to make a cover that you would just slide over, and it would fit like stock. A little gluing (or for better results, stapling) is required to get you that stock look.

We really work hard to make quality product for your RX-8 that aren't too difficult to install and are priced well so you all can get them.

The door panels certainly do come off, but you'd probably have to disassemble them to cover sections of it. Like, in case of the non-GT cars, sections of the door panel are covered with some fuzzy, felt-like material. Those sections are the ones people would want to change I suppose.
When my interior was re-done with leather, the shop covered those parts with vinyl that matches the leather on the seats perfectly. By looking at the door panel, I'm pretty sure they had to take it apart to do such a good job. But who knows how exactly did they do it
