Prosport Guages Disscussion!!
when you turn the dimmer there is an audible click that turns the gauge cluster amber. i'm wondering if there is a pole on the dimmer switch that would work. i'll try checking with a multimeter one of these days. if it works i'll let you guys know.

Random question: would the Prosport Digital series be more accurate than the Premium series seeing as how there is no issue of needle calibration? Also, whats the response time like on both of these (ie: would one have more delay than another)?
Okay so I installed my oil pressure gauge in the vent pod. Everything can be found in the dimmer switch (don't quote me on the colors exactly but the black and yellow wire is powered on ignition and the orange red wire is powered when you flip the headlights) with the exception of the constant power and ground. But if you have a test light into the connector of the dimmer switch its easy to figure out.
For the constant I used a fuse adapter thinga majiggy in the room fuse slot with a lead wire soldered with a butt connector to the gauge power wire. The ground went to a screw in the door jam. It was pretty easy, hardest part was running the wires around the AC vent down to behind the dimmer switch.

I'm a little confused. Some people say tap the cig lighter and never said anything bad about it. Others say they need the constant voltage. Well I tried the cig lighter and my temp gauges for both oil and water are flashing after starting up and won't stop flashing. It has nothing to do with setting the peak or whatever so I'm a little stumped here. Obviously it's getting power since they're on and flashing so.....cig lighter hook from all the DIY's still the problem?

The gauges require constant voltage in order to power on/off properly as well as to save your peak and warning settings. They also need switched power to know when the car is on and when it's off.
Finally the proper switched power for the light changes is necessary.
As an example:
I have my constant power wired to a constant power source and then an in-line 5amp fuse for protection. I then used the cig. power as a switched power source also fused. Finally, I have the light change wired into the lights for the ash tray so when I turn on my parking/head lights the gauges change from white to amber.

If the gauges are flashing it's because they are not getting a signal from the sensor.

I know they need a constant source in order to save memory, but that's it, the yellow wire off the lighter feeds it enough to work properly from what I'm seeing. Did anyone try to use the power source to the seat heater wires? If so which color is the constant source? Both switches (driver and passenger) have different colored wires so I can't just say it's red when the other switch shows a blue wire in the same location.
Now I have another issue. The oil pressure is the only one working properly. Right after I set a peak setting for it, it starts going off into what I take as warning mode with red flashing . And no, the peak setting I used is higher than what it's seeing so there should be no reason for it to be doing this. That and you can't shut that warning mode off unless you stop and turn off your car apparently.
Are you certain about this? Everything is hooked up and I piggy backed the temps (oil/water) to the pressure and had that feed into the car wiring, perhaps that's what's causing it?

The warning is going off because your below the set warning mark.

My brain was in overdrive mode last night working 7+ hours on this thing getting it all set up. Your right, it should be for low pressure warning.
I have a bit of problem as well. And I'm hoping to get some help. Just hooked up my premium gauges and they are having the same problem as Vlaze, where the gauges flash nonstop.
"copy and paste from the first youtube link"
All gauges can retain memory, " ie, keeps the beeping off, remembers my peak " hence at start up, there is no beeping. But if that was off, gauges would beep/blink nonstop. the water temp gauge does its opening ceremony and stays put at zero 0. Oil temp does its ceremony and creeps up to max. Oil pressure works fine but seems to blink if its not moving. " I think the oil pressure is doing this because its yet to have its peak warning set. "
Wires tapped as is.. " EDIT, using the wires from the cig accessory "
Cars White/red stripe capped off.
Cars Black/red to gauges Black.
Cars Red/Yellow to gauges Orange.
Cars Yellow to gauges white.
Cars 15v Room fuse to Gauges Red.
Now, the only problem I can see is, when I decided to cut the cig accessory wires, there were 2 white/red and 2 red/yellow wires. Could it be that I tapped the wrong pair?
And are you suppose to crimp the wires where the sensors meet? "ie, where the sensor body wires [ Black, and White. ] to the gauges sensor wires [ also Black, and White.] I did pushed them together until I heard a click.
here are two youtube links that I've made for my situation.

If any pictures are required, let me know and I'll get em up. I just want these to work already
