No it is not. The ground is built in to the wiring on the premium series.

Those of us who purchased Prosport gauges here locally in Phoenix had to install additional grounds to the senders because of accuracy problems. It made as much as 10 degrees difference in the temperature the gauges were reporting.

Was this the performance series or the Premium series?

The Premium series senders are built in grounds.

I'm sorry if it's not clear to me but I haven't ventured down this road before.

What exactly is the modification in this picture?

It is an Oil temp gauge from Prosport and all the installation accessories that come along with it.

A 60mm Prosport Premium Oil Temp Gauge

I was just pointing out the sender Prosport sends with the temp gauges. The pressure gauges can be found on their site and are sold seperately

Yes I know... I thought the picture showed the modification with the added grounding.

It doesn't matter Brice. The grounds on the premium still allow up to 10 ohms. I'm redoing the grounds on mine next time I get under the hood.

Chickenwafer had this problem and contacted Prosport about it. I PM'd him to find out what he had to do when I realized my gauges were off. Here's what he sent which is basically reiterating what Flashwing was saying:

I ran another ground wire from a chassis ground (one near the OEM windshield washer bottle, on the passenger side fender area, there are a few other wires grounded there) to the ground wire coming off the water temp sensor.

I verified with my multimeter 0ohms doing this. It made the water temp readings much more accurate, but it is still off at the higher end of the scale (gauge reads 180F when coolant is really 185-187ish, from the AccessPORT). Then again it's also rumored the OEM coolant temp sensor reads +5 degrees F.

I am using the Racing Beat temp adapter which places the sensor in the heater hose which isn't exactly ideal, IMHO. If I could do it again I would put it in the top radiator hose (which I will do at a later date).

Ah good to know. And Yes I agree with Daves last statement as the placement of the RB adapter is not entirely the best way to go.

What about which gauges you guy's are installing in your cars.....I have 7 locations but I really would like 8 gauges, I need to eliminate one.....Prosport Premiums, I'm thinking to eliminate either one of the last 2, but I'm really open to suggestion....eventually will be boost with a supercharger...
-Oil Pressure
-Oil Temp
-Water Temp
-Boost (for the near future
-Wideband Fuel/Air Ratio
-Voltmeter
-EGT
-Fuel Pressure

Removal of the Voltmeter would be my choice...

I have the vent pod and RB lower ashtray replacement and soon the Nav panel 3 pods group buy.... so no pillar for this guy

Ya I'm thinking the voltmeter as well but is the EGT really useful for the Boost application? I fly with Turbine engine and yes a sort of EGT (TIT) and it is very important for us...but for a car?

For the electrical System on the other we really have little warning of a problem??

I was going to say the voltmeter is not worth it as well... unless you're running extensive carpc/audio it is not needed

Commenting mostly on what you have quoted. Regardless of how ideal the RB adapter location is you should expect a difference between the reading from the ECU through the OBD and a sending unit that is placed in a different location in the coolant system. The OEM sending unit is directly on the inlet side of the thermostat housing and where people are adding adapters are, generally (and deff in the RB case, later in the system.

If an adapter was put in the upper radiator hose the 2 readings would be much closer.

egts can be very important for tuning and early indicators of engine trouble if you know how to read them. Very very important. volt, very very unimportant.
