Wondering if a newer radio will work on an 04. I want the GROM but my radio isn't compatible. Unless someone has a better Idea to get it working with the stock radio. Has anyone done this swap?

Christ man, search!!! There are a ton of threads on this. yes a new model head unit will work. The factory Mazda ipod adapter works with any firmware.

 

I did search and absolutely nothing came up on switching from 04 to 05 satellite radio. I always search before asking a question, I get tired of seeing all these posts, you should search. Well, I did and didn't find anything so I asked.

 

What does satellite have to do with anything? That is a separate module. FYI, there is a huge thread that discusses firmware and ipod/mp3/usb adapters. All the info you seek is here already.

 

The newer 05 have the radio that have the sat button, that has a lot to do with satellite. Maybe I should have said satellite ready.
