6-disk installation problems

Hey guys thanks in advance- I just took out my standard 1-disk stock cd player and "tried" to install the 6-disk version into a 2004 sport.

I am having some issues:

1) it will not load cds at all, it just makes a mechanical sound when i turn the car on

2) pressing load still does not allow me to insert a cd- it is almost as if something is blocking the way

3) the beep and volume is extremely quiet

please, if anyone has any information or insight for me, i would really appreciate it!

Oh, i forgot to mention that this came from a 2006 MT, and I am trying to install it into a 2004 MT, which previously had a single-disk player in it.

Your are trying to install a bose unit on a non bose car? The bose system has 3 amps that go with it, maybe thats why the sound is low?

Have you tried pressing eject? Maybe there are cd's in it already?

Yeah, I am trying to install it into a non-bose car. I have tried pressing eject, load, disk up/down, nothing.

I heard that addiitonal programming form the dealership is required as well, maybe?

Maybe you got a bad unit? From my understanding no programing required like GM radios.
I don't think your going to be too happy with the radio without some amps to power your speakers tho.

Radio display works ok? I would pull it out and reinstall it, make sure all the connections on the back are good especially the ones that connect the head unit to the face plate. When you press load does it Display " LOAD 1 2 3 4 5 6" ?

When I press load, it does NOT display "LOAD 1 2 3 4 5 6". the radio works fine, but as you said, sounds quiet because there is not enough power supplying it, which is supposed to be coming from 2 additional amps.
