Cracked Dashboard
I noticed a vertical crack on top of the passenger side of the dashboard, I guess over the air bag.
Two weeks later there is a also a horizontal crack at 90 degrees to the first one!
Each about 3" long
They close up in the hot sun, and open to about 2mm in the heat/sun.
I live in Singapore but the car is not left out in the sun most days
Anyone seen this before? I can't find anything on the forum.
Is it an easy fix to replace the dashboard cover that side or does it need a garage and lots of money??!

same problem on the passenger air bag, and i dont even use my car!
my car's warranty expired about 3 months ago and now this happens. im taking it to the dealer to see if they replace it under warranty due to it being a safety issue.

Seems like there are a few of us with the same prob then ? I haven't tried yet but I have the feeling that they will want to replace the whole section of dashboard AND the airbag - we all know that anything involving airbags is mucho dollars.
I don't want to simply fill the gap with black goo in case it affects operation of the airbag.....
frankcastle123 - did you get a quote ?????

For 450$ they better change the whole airbag! Tell them it's truly a safety issue (airbag) and that you are worried to drive the car now that it's cracked (sound convincing ). I dont know which Mazda manages stuff in Singapore, but threathen your dealer to call the Mazda North American Operations equivalent where you are. If they still dont want to help you, go to another dealer. I guess there must be more than one in Singapore?
Same thing for you frankcastle123, try telling them you're gonna call MNAO.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but since this was the only thread I could find with advanced search I thought I would resurrect it.
Has anyone gotten any justice from Mazda regarding this?
Is everyone just living with this issue?

i have a damn 4 inch crack on mine too, i thought it was because the dealer who sold me the car had armoralled it and i dont use that crap to it just dried and cracked,
i have to schedule an oil and tranny service im going to inquire when i take it in, im guessing if i raise enough hell they will take care of it. ill post for sure what happens, cause i dont see anything other than the 450 dollar quote in the thread.

Crack in Dashboard
I have Mazda RX 2005, and have the same problem. I have a crack right in the airbag area. I went to the dealer last year and he told me it would cost about 1200 dollars. Seems to be more then just a few people with the problem. Think about calling Mazda.

Mines been garage parked. I only have 28k miles. But there's no way I can prove to Mazda that I have it in the garage all week out of the sun.
Anyways. I have an appointment for Monday to have my oil change and tranny serviced. So ill post Tuesday what I find out. Wish me luck.

Well you can add me to the cracked passenger dash club because mine is the same way. It's almost in like a perfict t shape. I was wondering if I could get something to patch it since trying to get Mazda to fix it will be a waiste of my time. I've seen Vinyl patch kits, anyone have any experience with these?
