My passenger side broke when my mother pulled it down. They replaced it under warrrenty and it took about 5 days to get it in.

I must say the I do like the holes in it. I have to drive into the sun in the mornings and I have never seen the sun line up so perfictly with the holes that they did not block enough sun. I like the holes because at the first stop light, the sun is directly behind it. I can see watch for the green through it and not be blinded by the sun.

If one doesn't like the holes, one can make their own modification and cover it up on the inside with some gray paper or something.

Driver's side visor broke at 300 miles, passenger side at 800 miles. At this rate, I may replace 30 per year...

ditto --- here's my second one -- one at about 12k and now at 35k -- sounds like I'm lucky to have had only two....

been waiting cause my center console clip (at the parking brake) has been broken for months, the ashtray just broke 3 weeks ago, and now the sunvisor (again)

love the car, but all the worthless plastic crap breaking is getting very TIRING...

I found a dual circle sunshade that is strong enuff to stay up just against the rearview mirror so I dont have to use the visors. Sad!

i'm 1500 mile away from 36,000 does that mean that i'm going to have to start payin' for a part that is prone to break? (aka the visor) if I am thats gonna suck.

dang visor

I have to awaken this thread, so I can vent. What a POS visor. I want to redo my last survey on my 8.

At least the warranty will cover it. I'll go pay for $100 pair of sun glasses and never use the visors again. I may install an electric wire across the passenger side visor that sends an electric shock on contact.

My driver's side visor broke last week; I had less than 6000 miles on the clock. The dealer had one in stock and replaced it under warranty. They were very nice about it too.

I am just over 6000 miles myself. Still under warranty here. They say about 3 days for my 2 new visors to come in. I wonder if the malfunction in the black piece is caused by excessive heat. If so, it's only May in Louisiana. I wonder what July and August will bring. I need to tint my windows and get a windshield sun deflector thingy.

screw the warranty. do what others did on this site and take apart the whole visor and reassemble it using super glue. I did. now it feels stronger than a brand new one. I even took apart the passenger side visor and super glued it before that one breaks.

i tried that but it broke straight away, tring again now and leaving it to set for alot longer, hope that helps, but is definatly cheaper than buying a new one!!!

You do realize there's now a TSB on that. Mazda has redesigned the part… http://www.finishlineperformance.com...02-07-1734.pdf

Yup. The TSB pretty much sums out what my visor looked like. You think should go in there and get the other passenger side one replace pre-emptively?

I think the only difference is in the way the pivot is designed, inside. I believe they redesigned it solely to address the fact that some were breaking. Other than that, the 8's had the same visor from day one (I think).

You know, I have replace the visor on the passenger side twice. The visor on the driver side 3 times! The last replacement was not covered by warranty! Curious, how come a known defect in the product result in money coming out of my pocket.....right now borderline confused\furious.

My drver side visor has cracked and been replaced 4 times. I wish I could just find an aftermarket one to replace. Does anyone have any ideas? Once the warranty is up I do not want to keep spending 105.00.

Add me to the list. Drivers side just broke and passenger side shows signs of breaking. ~7000 miles. I don't even use mine very often. Taking it to the dealer soon.

My driver side broke for the second time last week, i was driving on the highway at about 65mph and lowered it because the sun was in my eyes, the damn visor broke and swung down hitting me in the face and i swerved off the road, F***ing up my airdam thing. I called mazda and they were like oh im sorry but we can't get you in for a couple of weeks, And they didn't say **** about me flying off the road.
