Welcome to the RX-8 Club. Your not a "real" RX-8 owner until you break your visor

I just broke mine last night on my way home from work. I was so P/O'd I tried to rip it off and blew the radio and console fuse (this seems very common if you pull on the visor). Replaced the fuse and will deal w/out a visor until the sun bothers me in the fall.

65, 000 so out of warrantee...

After looking up broken visor I'm surprised I made it this long before breaking one.

I recently purchased an RX-8 and couldn't believe that the sun visor was missing...its obviously a pretty common problem, and I can't find any at salvage yards around me.

nope

I had to replace my driver's side last year, and my passenger side last week. Last year was free, this year it was almost free (it's nice being friendly with the parts department guy)

Mazda charges $130 for the 04-05 sun visor...the 06-08 has a slightly different color and different airbag sticker, FWIW.

Thread revival. The passenger visor on my 04 broke today. No way am I paying $100+ for this crap. I'm gonna take the visor to my factory and see if my craftsmen can industrial-glue this thing together to keep it from falling apart. And here I thought being a JDM model, it would have better build quality. What crap.

I only went to Home Depot and bought two washers, two bolts, and two self-securing washers for less than $8. I use the visor a lot driving under the California sun and I've made the assumption that the glue would not last long. I didn't care much for aesthetic looks, as long as it serves it's purpose I'm okay with using the mentioned hardware.

Opened it up to lube the pivot shaft. Then super glued it shut. Clamped for 24 hrs and good to go. I will use the visors rarely and gently from now on.

Cyanoacrylate is a wonderful thing. If these come apart on you, just clean off the area as best you can or even take a knife to the plastic to remove the old layer of glue... then lightly apply glue and clamp... should be good as stated in the above post. Mine broke 4 times or so under warranty.

Fix it with my method and you won't have to keep using a messy glue

Thanks. Let's see how strong they stay. BTW, 3/4˝ by the arm, 5/8˝ on the other (narrower) side. $1.07 and $.80 at Lowe's.

I thought there was a TSB for the visors? A couple years ago mine were replaced with the updated version and they have not broke since. I went through 2 sets before and was very annoyed each time they broke.

So apparently the 06+ Civic's sun visors got a recall and offering replacements for the same splitting issue. That's a WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOLE lot of sun visors. Where is Mazda for our recalls?

Mine broke yesterday.

I'm going to see if the dealer will replace it for free or very little. If not I guess I will have to fix it myself. Thanks for DIY fixes posted on this thread.

News visors/reduced price!

Hey everyone, I just bought a new set of visors from Mazmart, just $50 for the driver's side and $65.58 passenger side:
MAZMART - Serving The Mazda Community Since 1980. RX8 Sun Visors NEW OEM

(My original visors are still good after 10 years, but at this price, I figured I'd get these in case they go at some point in the future.)
