I thought so. It does everything this one does. The preouts are weaker, but that's ok. And it plays dvds, which is cool but a MAJOR distraction. I had one in the 7. It's hard not to look. I think I might actually wire up the stationary safety.

Damn some of you guys have a kick *** setup. I didn't want to go to extensive into the audio setup because I'm using my cash for other things on my 8 but this is what I'm running now; two rockford 10's, two kicker 6.5" subs behind driver and passanger seats for my mids, replaced the rear 6x9's with some old Pioneer Premiers that I've held onto for the past 7 years because they sound great, stock Bose tweeters, replaced the Bose door speakers for 6.5" Boss Chaos series (sound great for the price on ebay) and original factory head unit. I'm powering my 4 subs plus my boss door speakers with a Rockford p-400 amp. Eventually I'll install a Alpine digital for my door speakers and my kickers and bridge my Rockford to run just my 10's.

Like I said its nothing to brag about but it sounds awesome with some Lamb of God or Slipknot.

Yeah thats what I was going for, I play music myself so I wanted to recreate they dynamics of the instruments as much as possible. I think most people just want to be as loud as possible, but you pro audio guys know what I mean when I say how good it sounds, is far more important than how many people can hear how much noise their car makes. Horrible trunk rattle is like having a big muffler on a stock civic. Just makes noise and thats all its good for.

Any of you pro audio guys have any tips on sound dampening the rx8 trunk? I know best buy sells dyno mat or whatever but I've never used it, or have ever tryed to install it. I want something that is going to be hidden though because I want to keep my trunk looking clean so I don't want anything thats visible when you open the trunk.

actually the easiest way to keep it from ratling is turning the bass **** down. the next easiest way is laying down a strip of dynomat where the edge of the trunk comes in contact with the body, just above the tailights. but you can see that. so i don know what to tell ya. i've dynomatted cars before and they still rattled. you just couldn't hear the bass. which makes it seem like it's rattling for no reason ha. i'm not to worried about the trunk rattle. the rear deck that houses the 6x9's pisses me OFF when it ratles. i think i'm gonna take it out and put weather stripping on the edge closest to the rear windshield.

Dynamat is mainly used to reduce the amount of road noise that enters the cabin. The only time it's going to stop vibrations is when A) it's coincidently been wedged in between the two offending pieces making the rattle or B) the added weight from the dynamat prevents the offending pieces from moving as much.

At any rate, the most cost effective way to, specifically, stop rattling.... wedge a piece of cardboard between the two noisy pieces. Push on various places of your trunk to narrow down the problem spot, then start cramming cardboard everywhere until you find the perfect spot. Now make it pretty. Use something else to wedge in there or just trim up the cardboard so it's not visible. Boom. Problem solved without spending $200 on sound deadener.

That all being said, I had very minimal rattles even before I used dynamat. I say you go for it. Install everything and see your outcome.

1- 10" 4 ohm Bazooka
Planet Audio 6x9 for rear
Planet Audio 6.5" components for front
Crunch 5 channel amp with bass level remote
5 band EQ
4 gauge wiring kit
Ebay front speaker adaptors

will tap rear outputs to LOC, input into 5 band EQ, then to Crunch AMP
will keep fatory HU and center speaker
Might look into trunk mount multi band eq later to replace the 5 band

Yes, I forgot to mention the Metra kit. No problems with mine, I bought it from Crutchfield and it seems to have the latest firmware because the clock stays accurate. I did have a couple solder joints come off on the heating control connector but that was a simple fix.

I used to think that the Bose speakers suck. They actually sound really awesome on their own. It was the head unit that blew chunks.

I've heard that. I replaced the whole system in one move, so I can't really speak for it. But I've heard from other posters that replacing just the headunit makes a world of difference.

And I see you listen to rock (alt nation). As long as the RCAs for the Bazooka tube are plugged into the subwoofer output, try bumping the lowend OUT of the cabin speakers by turning on the headunit's high-pass filter at about 100Hz. Should allow them to play cleaner louder.

i replaced my HU and had stock speakers for 2 years. They sounded worlds better.
I then replaced all my speakers with alpines and that was also a night and day change.
HU Sucks
Bose speakers are quite good
Alpine is even better

How is that head unit? I'm thinking about getting it. as of now i have two RE SR 12's and a 2000 watt amp but tapping from the rears just isn't the best quality. :/

how much did you pay for that dash kit and wiring harness for the head unit? i have my sub and amp installed already but the prices on the dash kits for the 8 are outrageous because of the upper screen with the clock and all that. also if you have the info what was the site or where did you get the kit dash kit and harness from? i have a 7in touch screen head unit i want to put in but don't want to lose the outside temp and all that other stuff thats on that screen. ps. also how did you get the custum thing on the screen thats baller.

thanks about what my sub set up looks like but my amp is behind my sub and it sits flush with the back and looks like it came with it. now my problem is can't put strut bar because of where it sits. considering redoing a custum box in the dip. what you think?

Especially for the price I don't think it can be beat, lots of features and really only 2 small gripes.

No dimming of the screen, either on or off. And with the SD with about 20gbs of music on it, it takes a loooong time for it to start playing music after you turn the car on.

You dont have the illumination wire connected properly. Every Pioneer since I can remember has had this wire. Screen will dim when your headlights are flipped on.
