I know it can, but there are some constrains.

You've got me itching to install it now

They'd suit hard hitting music and would keep the price moderate. If your musical tasted changed, you could keep everything else and swap Alpine for Focal and spend another $1K.
what do you mean if my musical taste changed? are you implying that it should?

Well, maybe they'll widen

I sometimes listen to music now that's only entertaining to me because of the detail you can hear through very clear reproduction. I listened to an Armenial folk ballad the other day that really surprised me, some classical, lots of acoustic guitar - but never "easy listening" and I'd die before I played any country and western.

The system is looking like being

Front:
Mid bass - AVI BSM-160
Mid - AVI MDN-50 (only if upper mid range definition is lacking)
High - AVI HF-30B
Crossovers - AVI (model undecided - will test)

Rear:
Mid bass - AVI BSM-160
High - AVI HF-30B
Crossovers - AVI (model undecided - will test)

Sub:
Speaker - either AVI or Xtant (undecided)
Enclosure type - large speaker would be in sealed enclosure, small in bandpass (undecided)

Amps:
Front and rear - Xtant x604
Sub - Undecided (probably an Xtant model)

It took me 2 hours to choose and buy the car, now I'm taking weeks to upgrade the audio system - go figure

that sounds...expensive..how much is it gonna cost? the audio is probably the single most important think in the car to me atleast, take your time..if i had the money i would be going with 2 amps and components but i cant just yet.

i checked out the mp3 player i see the different modes..theres id3 tags yes.but no auto scroll you gotta manually scroll the track name!

All the gear would come in under $10K locally. Take away conversion and markup and it'd be $5~6K US.

I'm not at all impressed with the head unit options. I'll address it one step at a time though. There's some nice head units out there, but it could all be so much better.

It was a track played to me buy an AVI dealer in Sydnet. He's from Armenia originally (I think it's a middle eastern country). The ballan wa almost operatic and reminded me a little bit of the Diva track from the soundtrack of the movie 5th Element. The sonf inself was supposed to be 1500 years old.

The vocals were very complex and he was using the track to demonstrate the speakers I'm going to be getting.

I was even listening to a Vincent Price radio play I found the other day - really trashy, but strangely entertaining.

I think you'll find the really top 2~3% of any classification of music can be entertaining. Finding it to appreciate it is the hard bit!

See how clumsy I am - misplaced an entire country.

Next time I'm there, I'll see if I can get a copy of it - if I can, I'll get it to you.

the 10" mtx they temporarily put in was shaking the glass on the back of the car. im trying out a 10w6 next. i think that would hit even harder and sound alot better?

does the 10w6 have dual voice coils?

There's a 10W6AE abd a 10W6v2 ... I believe they're both dual v/c, but the v2 is a very serious sub.

I just looked - surprise ... I have a 10W6 on the shelf behind me in a box, I was going to use in in a custom enclosure in a Z3 boot. Swapped the car for a Audi TTQ before I got round to it!

It's a nice sub!

My 8" box is going to take up way, way, WAY less space than that! The 8" will be in the passenger compartment with all the other speakers.

why did you put the box right in the middle? i think it takes up more space like that. i put mines all the way to the left and to the back then mounted the box to the metal bracket on top of the trunk.i wonder if it would sound different the way you positioned it..wheres your amp?

i think his amp is behind the enclosure, mounted to the back or something.
