damn i tried this myself to also...bought the precuts from ebay and tried it with a friend of mine...**** took 2 freakin hours and didnt even come out nicely...ended up ripping it right off...for thoese who are wanting to do this i believe you should just stick to painting it yourself or having a professional tint shop tint it for you...

Its a high-temp paint. But will get rid of it when repainting the lip soon. Don't need it with 3.5 inches tips, but works with 4 inches.

BTW got this reverse lights idea from the vette.

SC...I was actually thinking about doing my third brake light as well. I currently have black vinly over mine with an "RX-8" cutout....the red looks nice on the VR.

Do the front corners.....it looks great as well. I did them for mine, and then after sevenstock, gave them to one of the VR guys in the San Bernardino group.

Any red on the front is illegal? That bothers me. That's the reason for the light smoke. Also goes well with the headlights.

One question. At night with lights on there is some kind of back reflection from the side LEDs in the taillights. Looks weird, like a fuzzy spot/shadow over the lenses and I don't like it. Do you have that with the overlay?

That pic is not clear but might help:

The material is exterior grade vinyl, and is rather difficult to use on the contours of our rear lenses. The side markers were very simple. Here's some pics of what they look like, with the lights turned to accessory/parking lamp...as well as another pic of the car parked with lights off. One draw back is the reverse light, which is now covered with red film. This is definately not DOT legal and is something I could get a ticket for...as well as the red film on the amber front corners...again, not street legal.

I will be at Sevenstock...and hopefully my car will be worthy enough to be in the show lot area. So, come by and take a peak at the lenses in person. They look great, but up close, you'll notice how hard the material is to work with on our rear lenses.

What type of Body Kit is that?

nice look powered....I wonder if mazda will see this and offer the new version of the RX8 with some different tail options. Not everyone is interested in the 2001 Altezza styling.

Not that I like bringing back threads that havent been touched in a year, I thought Id post another painted red set of tails. Only difference, is I got good results with rattle can. Taking your time, and prep is needed, but I think it turns out great.

Oh yeah, These are already posted in my own thread, but I wanted to add them here.

Its duplicolor metalcast red. Its in a can, made for spraying over metallic paints. It works really well. I did my old subaru wheels red too, and I loved the look. Better daytime pics on a thread in the gallery.
