"Red-out" Taillight Film
I wanted to do something new for the upcoming Sevenstock-9 event at Mazda HQ next weekend. I purchased the "red-out" kit off of ebay and have covered my taillights, as well as front corner lenses. The material is exterior grade vinyl, and is rather difficult to use on the contours of our rear lenses. The side markers were very simple. Here's some pics of what they look like, with the lights turned to accessory/parking lamp...as well as another pic of the car parked with lights off. One draw back is the reverse light, which is now covered with red film. This is definately not DOT legal and is something I could get a ticket for...as well as the red film on the amber front corners...again, not street legal.
I will be at Sevenstock...and hopefully my car will be worthy enough to be in the show lot area. So, come by and take a peak at the lenses in person. They look great, but up close, you'll notice how hard the material is to work with on our rear lenses.

Looks nice, wish I could check it out in person. I was gunna use film to smoke my head and tail lights, but I ended up painting them which was very easy and looks perfect. The only drawback I suffer though is its permanate, yours isnt.
Nice job, I like the red/black sceme.

California requirements is that a amber reflector be on the side of the car, near the front bumper (some cars have reflectors built into the headlight/facing the side of the car...rather than having a separate reflector like our cars)....so having red, no, not legal.

I have red LED's for turn signals. So, no problem with light quality or color. The white backup lights are no longer white, but not as bright red as the brake or turn signal.
