I knew it was from a GTO. (There is a GTO sitting about 12 feet from me right now.) I think that it looks better than that round factory spoiler. It makes me think, but it would have to be painted to match the velocity red on the Mazda. Great price, but I think I will stick with my plan to get the Mazda Speed Spoiler.

Doesn't look all that bad actually. I still prefer my MS spoiler but not bad...
I like the MS spoiler but this was a fraction of the cost and matches the sunlight silver 8's very very well.

I get lots of emails on recall items, model changes, etc.....pretty much anything that would affect the handling of an insurance claim. Claims on discontinued vehicles sometimes result in a total loss cause parts are no longer avail after a few years.

Isn't putting a GM spoiler on a Mazda sacrilege?

I can see just fine but I wouldn't speak for someone who's less than 6' tall. I mainly use the little round convex mirrors I placed on the sideview mirrors....great for blind spots. It's good to see some who like and dislike the spoiler. I don't like the stock, x-men or the dumb looking aluminum racing wings that some on this site have but that is just me.....personal opinions are what makes this forum go round.

You call it sacrilege I call it cost effective. I guess you'd say the same thing if Ford started putting Ford emblems on the hood of our cars. Now that I think about it you may be right cause my 8 came from Japan......but I'm still going to keep it on the car.

Here's how I finished off the underside of the trunk once I drilled the holes. Had to drill larger holes on inside of trunk so I could use a small socket on the bolts for the spoiler. Purchased split rubber rings from Lowes.

Did you have to drill an extra hole for the wiring harness for the brake light? If so, I hope you applied a rubber gasket to it also.

Yes........I did not have to apply a rubber gasket to any of the holes on top of the trunk cause the spoiler came with the foam pads at each mounting point. I did applied some gasket sealer around each hole before placing the spoiler on the trunk. The holes in the pics are the second set of holes made once the drill passed thru the first layer of the trunk. I made them larger in order to get a socket on the bolts. I just added the rubber rings to the bolt access holes as finishers. I'm pretty sure I won't have any leaks...if I do it will be an easy fix. I will test it out tomorrow at the car wash.

Those foam pads may not make a water tight seal. Initially when I removed mine it had alot of that sealer around the holes, some of which came off when I removed the spoiler.I put it back on until I could get the shop to weld and paint etc. Had a bit of water leak into the trunk from the larger of the five holes.
So you may want to keep an eye on that one.

I don't recall the set-up on the trunk lid of the 8 but,on the GTO the mounting holes fall outside the trunk weather stripping so even if they do leak the water runs off and drains down the outside. The larger hole for the wiring falls inside the trunk weatherstripping so if it leaks you'll know it.

I looked at mine and how they lined up against the seal on the car. The two holes closest to the back window sit directly on top of the trunk seal and the two holes at the rear of the car are on the outside of the seal. During the install when I tightened down on the bolts the gasket sealer gushed out from under each pedestal. I will find out for sure during a hard ran or when I wash my car tomorrow.

The guy I bought my spoiler from posted them on ebay along with pics of my ride. The bids start at $50 + shipping. For those who are interested in a buy it now price you will have to contact him using the "contact seller" tab. If you win the bid at $50 + shipping then it would be a heck of a deal.

Check it out:

I like how the spoiler looks. (even on the GTO Tiggerlee)

You mentioned the R-Magic lip spoiler 1stgen8 is that going to be in addition to the GTO spoiler?

How high off of the trunk is the middle of the spoiler?

I guess I should have said front lip spoiler or front bumper add-on. Ordered it from Lazi back in Nov.

Just measured it.....middle of the spoiler is a little shy of 4 inches high off the back of trunk. I have no problem seeing thru back window......my seat stays in the gangsta lean position most of the time.

I was thinking about something like this... I was going to use the g35 Sedan wing on my 8.. I got it from a friend and was thinking about it but I have a CF lip wing so desided to keep it.. I will put it on and take pictures today to sort of give an Idea and also for shitz and giggles...

My next choice would have been the G35 sedan wing. One of my friends has a G35 but didn't want to give up the wing.

You're just all creative as hell ain't ya Will! Looks good man. Like the new wheels too.

I finally got the RB springs on the front that you sold me. Gave it a slightly stiffer ride, not much. I didn't notice any lowering of the front though ... almost looks higher!

RB states there are supposed to be a 1/2 inch drop. Maybe they will settle over time. I get bored easily so I am always thinking of things to do. I also upgraded my stereo...check it out.

Thanks......man. I will be adding more of my ideas over time....conservative ones atleast. I have been thinking of doing some upholstery work inside but dont feel like taking my seats apart yet. Upholstery work can be a pain in the but. I used to do it on the side a few years ago. After I stopped I just never got rid of my commercial sewing machine.....its covered up in the garage.

Did you tighten the upper control arm nuts after the car was set down on the ground? If not then there is probably tension holding the car up.

When I first installed my front suspension it was riding about an inch higher because not letting the car down before tightening the two nuts on the upper control arm.
