It sucks they didn't have the other blue bulbs in stock gotta wait for another 2 weeks.

and blehhh they sent me the wrong white bulbs today, shot them an email, sales promptly replied and told me replacements are sent out the same day.

edit: nvm they are soooo bright, too bright actually, i might go swapping back to the warmer stock filament bulbs
Which bulbs are too bright? Your map lights? The dome looks good, but blue LEDs aren't going to be as bright as white. If you are looking for brightness, go with the 6000K bulbs. They still have a blue tint to them and are very bright.

installed all my lights today
woot woot
the passenger side parking light was a BITCH
everything else went somewhat smoothly...

HERE'S A QUESTION
anyone know how to pop out just the clear plastic for the map lights? there's a dead bug stuck in there and cleaning it from the bulb socket seems stupid...
thanks

also, on a pair of LED's (from 2 diff packets), the soder separated from the rest of the body so it's sorta hanging from the wires... should i contact VLEDS about them?

I don't think that lens is removable.

Yes, contact V-LEDS.

How many bulbs did it take you for the vanity? Is it two of the LEDs you have posted in the original post for each vanity? So 4 in total would need to be purchased? Or just 2?

Also, how did you wire up your footwell lights? What wires did you connect them to? Did you need to buy any additional wires or is what they provide enough?

Thanks!

No, just one bulb per mirror, two total.

Check this thread out for instructions (and pics on the second page) for wiring footwell lights to come on when the doors open:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-footwell-lights-179213/

The only thing I did differently is I only tapped the driver's side and then ran wires behind the center console to the passenger's side.

My second set of footwell lights (the red ones that stay on with the lights) are tapped into the ashtray light. I chose this because it dims with the dimmer **** and it's in a central location.

And, I did use extra wiring. I basically made wiring harnesses and used connectors for hooking up the LEDs so that if any burn out, or I want to change colors in the future it will be easy to swap them. If you are only doing the door open type and are willing to tap both sides like the thread I linked to, you probably won't need extra wiring.

Awesome, thanks for all the info. I actually was going to try and do the footwell lights exactly as you did. One color for when the door is open and one for the lights on. So you basically tapped the driver's side in and then tapped the passenger into the driver side LED?

Do you think you could possibly take a few pictures of how you have it all setup?

Also, do you think with enough wiring it'd be possible to put a switch for them to come on and off over near the DSC? (Say I got tired of them on while on a long drive home during the middle of the night.)

Thanks for all the help Aipex, greatly appreciated.

The camera that I use is in Argentina right now for work, but I can take pics in a couple of weeks. But basically, I tapped into the cars wiring with some of the wire I picked up at Radio Shack (spool of red, spool of black). Then I tapped a second, longer set of wires into the first (near where they were tapped into the car's wiring) and ran that second pair behind the center consol. I wrapped the pairs in electrical tape and used pinch on quick connectors on the ends so everything is somewhat tidy. Nothing is tapped into the wiring from the LEDs, just added the other ends of the quick connector to the them.

I did the second set much the same way, just tapping into the ashtray light.

As far as wiring up a switch, that should be easy, but I haven't done it so I can't give you instructions. The 6" red LEDs aren't distractingly bright though, and if you connect them to the ashtray light like I did, you can use the car's dimmer **** to adjust the brightness.

Has anyone tried replacing the red led lights that shine on the ignition switch and window switchs? Also, any ideas on how to have blue showing through into the ash tray?

They ashtray color is a tinted piece of plastic just below the lightbulb. You could replace with a blue bulb and remove the plastic insert. As far as the red for the switches, they are just red bulbs. You can pop that whole piece out and swap the bulbs if you want to.

My ashtray light is not LED (shocking, I know ), but I did have to replace it and the bulb that lights the ring around the lighter. If I remember correctly, the ashtray took a 74 and the lighter was a 37. The 37 that I used for the lighter wasn't an exact match, but I got it to work. It actually needs a slightly smaller bulb, but the smallest I could find was 37.

Anyway, ideally you would need a flanking LED bulb for the ashtray light. I don't know of one. This bulb would probably be your best bet, the LED on the end of the bulb and one of the side firing ones will be wasted though. I don't have this bulb, so I can't tell you for sure if it will work/fit.

No, I haven't. My interior is all red, so I'm fine with the stock color.

Haha there are a lot more lights then i originally expect too. There is no light in the coin tray, but there are red leds on both the ignition and the door buttons. The light in the ash tray is actually a while light that shines through a red window.

Great to see VLED's here. I originally purchased from them some time ago before they gained in popularity. They have always been the BEST LED's you can get. I recently purchased a different kind to save a few bucks...what a waste! These are the brightest and best LEDs out there. Woot woot!

Looks good! Really like the lights under the seats. I may have to do that in the future.

Turn signals and reverse lights are on the way, watch for pics soon!
