Well I traded trunks with a guy with 09' to get the lip spoiler and he had already plastidipped the badges black. It's only been a few months and the badges now look charcoal grey and look like ***. And don't get wax anywhere near it because you will never get it off. I tried removing a small portion and it just chips away little by little and takes quite a bit of force to chip it off. I am just getting new badges rather than hassle with it.

I should make a video showing what a bitch it is to get off.

9k, did you try running a heat gun over the plastidipped emblems?

I traded trunks with a guy that had his dipped, had the same problem as you, and the heat made it tacky enough to peel completely off in once piece.

Goo-Gone practically dissolves dip, not a lot of people know this but it's REALLY helpful when taking it off.

Eh that's weird. My phone didn't post the words lol. Basically said goo-gone will remove anything, especially fingertips, lungs, original paint, reproductive potential, etc.

Goo-goo is notoriously used for removal of stains and more commonly used for removal of adhesives (E.G. debadging). Since it is oil and light solvent based, I have no doubt that it is used on overspray of Plastidip since it is relatively paint safe (and I have heard of it being used for such applications)... Reality is, how often do Plastidippers use it to clean every crack and crevice of their cars post-removal? How time consuming would it be for the damn jambs and every gap between panels? How many Q-tips would one have to use?

The thing is, for most of the trim you just peel it away and it comes off really well. For stuff such as overspray in wheel wells or engine bay, you put googone on a rag and wipe it off. Takes less time than detailing a car, depending on how much overspray that is of course.

I remember hearing someone talking about plastidipping their wheels and looked up some youtube vids last night out of curiosity. Doesn't seem worth the hassle. It looks like it's a mixture of being a pain in the *** to remove and not being durable enough to deal with elements and small debris. Seeing entire GT-R's and M3's being painted on the dipyourcar youtube page was horrifying for me, to say the least.

To be fair though, there is worse stuff you could do to a car I suppose.

Plasti dipping *corner* lights. They still function plenty well enough in the dark, and now they don't disrupt the lines of the car. Think of it as budget-smoking the 'em

On the contrary, I used plastidip on the areas I did to increase durability
The other paints I tried just chipped away...

I just plastidipped the instrument cluster in my 8. I got tired of seeing the check engine, tpms, and low fuel lights. It's much more peaceful now.

My eyes are often bothered by the sun when I'm driving. So I picked up two cans of plasticoat in black to coat my windshield. Protects the windshield from bugs too.
