thanks! I'm actually nose-deep in the DIY section now. From the pics there, think I should get the stealth bulbs too.

I live in N. Wilmington, near the Brandywine Town Center on Naaman's .
As luck would have it, looks like we got our 8s at the same dealership. They are awesome.

Where do you work in DE?

I received them today. They are the same ones snizzle posted pics of. I like them. How many of you took the reflector off though? Does it look as bright?

I took the reflector out of mine. I recall seeing pics with and without and I prefered them out. The first one may be tricky but once you get a pattern going the second one should be fairly easy.

I got mine when I ordered the corners (they had two options, one with stealth bulbs and then the standard). They aren't any different when lit but when off they are a silver transparent that doesn't really show behind the corner (eliminates the "egg yolk" look).

I think it is. Almost the entire clear corner is illuminated with the reflector out. With it in it appears as though the back of the clear corner is not illuminated enough in comparison to the front, most of the light is reflected to the front. Looks much better without them IMO.

Just so we're all clear, these ARE the same clear corners that every person has that has replaced them for the stock amber ones. Or are we still suggesting that there is a mysterious THIRD version that apparently sticks out 3 feet off the car?

there is no such thing as a bulgier set of clear corners.... why would a whole group of people mysteriously purchase some set of corners that ruin the lines of the car? if this whole rx8 group you saw had them then why cant anyone tell me where to get a set of bulgy corners? there are only US oem amber lights, and Jap oem clear lights... the japanese ones all have a .75 cm bulge that sticks out, and the US ones are all straight.

the whole bulb issue...

ok, I got my clears in today and I have a (probably stupid) question regarding the stealth bulbs...
let me make this clear so that I understand- you want to replace the amber bulbs that came with the clear lenses so that you don't get that "egg yolk" appearance, correct? so therefore you want to buy the stealth bulbs, replace the amber bulbs, then place on the clear lenses?
here's a solution, and tell me if this makes too much sense.... just replace the clear lenses and don't even switch the existing factory clear bulbs/wiring harness with the amber bulbs/wiring harness that came with the clear corners! Why go to all the trouble of even jacking with the bulbs? just remove the amber bulb/wiring harness from the clear lenses as soon as you open the box they come in and don't even use it!
unless the stealth bulbs are magical and will make my car get better gas mileage or go faster... THEN I'll fork out the money for them...
and yes, take out those horrible reflectors. it looks really retarded with them in! i used a pair of needlenose pliers and a flat-head screwdriver.

Ummmmmm, what amber bulbs that come with the lenses?????? I just bought the lenses. You guys seem to be pissed at me for some reason, but i dont know why. I said i THINK the ones on other peoples cars stuck out more, but i wasnt positive, and i still think they did. What was your post about by the way saki.

Its just a bit odd since you are the first and only person to suggest that there three types of clear corners. I don't think anyone is mad here...

I bought my lenses from Mazdatrix, and they came with the amber bulbs/wiring harness that you are supposed to switch out with the factory ones. I didn't even mess with the bulbs/wiring harness.

My post was in regard to those reflectors as well as everyone wanting the stealth bulbs b/c they were clear and not amber. I was just stating an obvious conclusion.

And the clears do stick out a little more than the factory lenses, but its not that noticeable. I actually think they look awesome and contoured.

if you keep the white bulbs that are in the OEM american amber side marker in the harness and plug it up to your JDM clear corner, it will stay white when off, but wont light up amber. it will be that yellowish white halogen color.

thats why I went with LEDs, never had to replace them (well not for a long time) clear when off, super amber when on. Also I like the intese look of the light from LEDs

A 3rd side marker conspiracy?

that's hilarious.
You bought the same clear corners as everyone else, yet you hated the look of it.
