I'm not clear with something here, are there 2 versions of the CZ software? One just for updating and another for logging, programming, etc?

theres stage 1 box and you can buy a cable which includes a cd to be able to do your own tuning to your box if you like.also you can download upgrades as they come out instead of taking your box out an haven to send it to maurice to download for you.saves you on shipping cost.right know the program can be better from what the people iam getting my unit tune to tell me.i here maurice is working on a better map were still waiting

Actually that info on our site is out of date. Both allow custom tuning. Only diff. is one uses the 9 pin RS232 port (if you have one) and the other is USB. The USB one requires you to install a USB driver (included). It's the least expensive of the two. You then have to hunt down the Com port number that Windows hides from you .

Maurice informs me that Stage 3 can be shipped any time now. We haven't typed out installation instructions yet, or made up cable sets. We are still looking at installation options for the screen. We've found a nice windshield suction cup intended for a Magellen GPS that would work, as well as the Nav tray, and the velcro on the dash. At any rate, best place is in the centre of the dash, maybe just under your view to the road.

We are also still working on an "affordable" small computer as the next step up in the chain. The advantage to it is it could be used as a "cool laptop" (it's very small yet powerful). Still negotiating with the maker(s).

I think the Stage 3 is more practical installation wise, but the computer is nicer operationally.

Again, if you get Stage 3 you will have to use "full RPM" maps. They take about 2 min. to convert from our standard maps, so there shouldn't be any problem getting them. I recommend if you want to order Stage 3, plan on returning your Stage 1 box for updating and install of a proper map. A phone discussion with Maurice is also recommended.

If you want to use your existing laptop with the Stage 1 box, you will need a 12 foot USB extender cable (just measured it this afternoon). This assumes you will route it along the right fender (attach to existing engine compartment cable), under the washer bottle, along the firewall using the white clips, under the brake booster, and through the large rubber feedthrough under the clutch master cylinder. In the cab. you route it way up over the pedal supports (if you lay on your back and look way up you can see other cables up there), then through the console to the pass. side (you can see the gap from the passenger side). From there you can go where you like.
