in other good news, ive got my copy of ME up and running again! I'm still a long way away for 100 flashes.

Could someone please post up an edited OMP table? im looking to bump mine up a little (above idle, under load) but I don't want to over do the top end of the table. what is the maximum figure that can be used in the table? im not looking to max it out, I just want to make sure im not using a pointless figure!

also, while I was looking thru the DBW tables, I noticed it generally maxes out at 84. now is that the actual open % of the TB, or does 84 represent the highest "step" of the stepper motor??

Read through this thread and the larger cobb tuning threads before asking too many questions. All of this has been answered many times before. Cobb limits access, mazdaedit gives full access to the ecu. But any tables that cross over are the same.

The omp maxes out at 60. I would multiply the whole table by 1.3 then reduce anything over 60 back to 60. On the low end 5-7. Too high and it will smoke while idling and daily driving.

84 is wide open throttle. Why? nobody here knows or they aren't saying. Experiment with it a bit. Set the lowest box to 50 and flash it then look at your throttle body. Try it at 75, 84, and 100 there is no differance between 84 and 100

I only multiply by 10%

1.3 is a 30% increase, and I was worried that 10% might be too much. ill try 10% and see how that goes. changing any of the values from 3 to 6 (5~7) would be a 100% increase. I believe you when you say that would smoke at idle, even a 30% increase on 3 is only 4 (well, 3.9 recurring). I was planning on leaving the idle and low load areas of the OMP as they are.

I remember reading MM's thread on the OMP, and I remember seeing someone asking a similar question, but at the time I read it there was no answer.

also, I have a developing theory on why the TB would only open to 84% max, however if somebody with more experience than me said the actually % was 100, it would blow my theory away lol. I noticed when I logged data before I had ME, the throttle only ever got to 84, I thought at first it was an error in the OBD devices I was using. the data overlayed on the "best lap" vid in my sig has throttle displayed as the green bar next to the speed, if you look close, it never actually reaches the top.

the reason I asked those question here was I wanted to know if these limits were on the ECU, or if the ECU will happily output a signal corresponding to figures above 60 (OMP) and 84 (throttle body).

With the TB . Just think of 84 as being an arbitrary number rather than a % . 100% of 84 is 84. Mine actually goes to 78 but that is a different parameter again.

With the OMP .... I believe that if you put too big of a number there the adjustment arm can fall off the gear wheel .

I just scale both maps by 10% (nothing over 60) which means the lower numbers (eg 3) don't change at all .

Theres a bunch of people who premix and thats not for me so i just upped the rates some extra. All my 3 s became 4 and i wanted a little more so i bumped them to 5. MM said that it will smoke at 7.

Ive even raised the lowest three load rows and went down in increments of 5. So 9000 rpm=60, 8500-55, 8000-50 and so forth until it was at stock levels. That way after driving hard i let it idle down and have some extra oil in there relubing the walls well and cooling down the side seals.

Now i have do nit have a cat to worry about.

Whatever you do it's guesswork as to whether it helps anything or not .I reasoned that Mazda has already upped the rates to where they think it needs to be after early failures so didn't add much in NA load areas.
BUT I have mine inject a LOT more oil under boost . EG i hit 60 by 4000 under full boost conditions whereas a stock NA wouldn't hit 60 till 8500.

I would like to clarify that too,
does the program lock up
or is it just to continue getting support?

I think you just lose the updates for new models . Not really an issue for the Rx8 .
Will know for sure in a weeks time when my key expires.

You get completely locked out until you renew. But I'm pretty sure you can ask for your license to become standalone at which point you lose support and updates etc. Mine expired last year and I had to renew.

By "locked out" do you mean you can't use M/E at all ?

Did you have to pay more $ to become standalone ?

The yearly support fee is $250 (for ME-Pro), when this runs out if you open the software it will prompt you with a dialogue box saying "your key has expired, please enter a new key" and also a cancel button, and a buy new key now button. When this happens, you cannot access the features of the program (I.E. opening saved ecu ROMs, logs etc).

You can request epifan to generate a permanent key, and continue to use the software without support from epifan, however, this can be purchased at a later date if required. you do not need to pay for a permanent key

Just messaged Epifan and got a new key free of charge . No more "support" for me . I didn't ask what "support" actually meant though .

I doubt I'll miss it .

Interesting. Here is what the OMP table looks like for the S2 w/ a Kane recommended 30% scaling. No smoking, no issues.

Trying to wrap my head around what you mean about "nothing over 60" because even without the 30% adjustment the 50%-100% load @ 7000 - 9000 is above 60.

Have not looked at the S2 map before . Remember you have a different omp altogether so it's not surprising the numbers are vastly different.

Here is the stock S1 map for reference

I got kinda list in the thread. So,,, I pay 250 for the personal software from epifan, and 165 from tactrix and that's all I have to buy.

250$ software
165$ for hardware

Correct?
