Ok ... I'll stick my neck out on this one.

How could you have done logging with it but require a guide still and don't know how to download the ecu data to your computer?

I've never used MazdaEdit, so maybe if I had this would be glaringly evident.

Just asking

Tactrix inserted into port and ignition on :
On the toolbar there is a symbol that looks like a computer chip with a red arrow pointing to it . Click that .
When the 'flash utility' window appears click on the icon that looks like a chip with green arrow pointing away from it (meaning upload ecu info).
Follow the instructions on screen

Sidenote : any time you are uploading from or downloading to the ECU - don't touch anything !!!!!! If there is the slightest interruption between laptop and ECU - you will wipe the ECUs brain and be in for some exciting and expensive times.

On one hand, good to know... on the other... crap... maybe should save up for spare ECU before going down this road...

Just ...be f'n careful !
There are workaround solutions if you do brick your ecu but you really want to avoid that.

you should need approx 14v. to properly read\write the ECU.

My lightweight battery wasn't enough...
I resorted to a trickle charger after going through our national way of expressing concerns. The translation is "throwing saints" but you don't get the idea of how brutal the practice can be.

Thanks brettus, the logging icon is easy to find and use, I understand just how easy it is to brick the ecu, hence the reason I didnt try copy data back or forth until I knew what I was doing, well . . . . Ment to be doing

I remember opening the flash utility, lol and I thought to myself no point using this yet as I don't have a file to flas, then closed it off . . . . I'll go have a try later tonight

I went through the registration process... involves a couple email and file exchanges with epifan. Communication was prompt and concise.

Got my base map about an hour ago and have just finished up making my first set of adjustments. I'm going to tackle CEL suppression next.

All the basics plus the extra idle and speed limiter tables for the 2004 4 port
  • Coolant fan temps A & B lowered
  • Speed limiter set to 260 kph
  • RPM limit (raised) to 8500
  • Cold RPM limit lowered to 3000
  • Warm idle set to 1000
  • OMP table shifted and tweaked

I'm looking over the DTCs now and am going to attempt to suppress P0410 (Air Pump) and P0172 (System Rich).

There are three DTC related tables. DTC List Enabled 1, DTC List Enabled 2, and DTC List Opt?.

I'm going to try setting the value of 0410 and 0172 in the 1 & 2 tables to 00 as they're currently 01.

Haven't been able to locate any documentation on it, beyond a couple simple videos epifan published.

Does mazdaedit store files in a proprietary format like the 2-10k Cobb files or exactly 512k for direct ecu flashes?

I'm getting ready to buy the personal version if I can find/edit every table on the ecu.

You wont be able to do that on the personal edition . You need the full version to do any editing.

Doesn't matter if you can edit the tables if you can edit the bin. There are plenty of tools to edit tables, but flashing the ecu is the problem.

Harlan you can download a dump of the ROM. With the Personal version you must send it to Epifan and he gives you a base map married to the umpteen registration checks he performs.

Ahh. Pro it is. I was kinda hoping to use RomRaider to edit the maps and Mazdaedit to flash them. Now I'm back to saving up my money!

Is it just me or are some of these maps inverted?

their values decrease with higher load and rpm. One is the open loop fuel table (gears 1-2) and the other is the VE table.

So VE decreases with load and RPM? This makes no sense. On my Adaprtronic I increase VE to add fuel.

It does make sense. Because that is what VE actually does in reality. Personally i don't use the ve table that much in tuning . I use a setting that i feel is approximate and do all fueling adjustments on the fueling tables . This seems logical to me and seeems to work pretty well also

lower AFR = more fuel.....same with Lamba. Are you sure that is the Ve table..that looks more like a Lamba fueling table
