Amen to that -
I have also learned that everything I buy for this car is like buying jewelry, so the 8 is more of an expensive wife for me.

...bringing things back on track

We will be uploading this page very soon. Please feel free to review the Map Notes for each calibration. Let me know what you all think?

Take care,
Christian.

+5.5% HP / +6.7 lb-ft = Sound like honest guys to me.

MM - You think you can do better?

1.01 – Updated to the latest revision to match updated performance calibration versions. Only the 2006-2007 RX-8 MTs have been upreved to v1.01. The 2004-2005 RX-8 MTs are still on revision v1.00.
What's different about the 06+ ? DO they have a better starting point or an ECU with more features?

Intended for 2004-2008 USDM Mazda RX-8
MT otherwise stock vehicle with a stock or cat-back exhaust and
STOCK INTAKE SYSTEM ONLY.
= A good reason to get yours from MM if you have any mods at all.

Not one dam mention of the 4 port a/t. You need to talk to MM and have him tell you our problems.

I promise that we are working on this as I type, but I do not have a release date yet.

This calibration essentially does not allow the vehicle to start.

To be honest, I screwed up on something and I had to uprev those calibrations immediate to correct my mistake. Just a minor oversight on my part.

Take care,
Christian.

So 5.5% hp or is it 5.5hp? 5.5% of 232 = 244.76hp. That's err.... 12hp increase?

On an otherwise stock car. Not bad IMO.

It was 5.5% gain over baseline.

BUT:

1. Each car is different, this is just an example of what your gains might look like. You could get more or less.

2. No RX-8 makes 232 whp. And no one is removing their engine to get it tested for real hp results. So we go by whp, and most RX-8's seem to be in the 180ish range. So calculate 5.5% from that.

Their dyno graph in the map notes ( http://www.accessecu.com/accessport/...1%20MTv100.pdf ) looks like the car had ~190 whp, and now has just over 200 whp. So 5% sounds about right.

I include what you would call "Stage II", as well as a "Stage III" set of calibrations in the AccessPORTs I ship.

At the moment, each AP goes out the door with 300 separate MM calibrations, not including the "novelty" calibrations like "valet", "immobilizer" and "economy", which are some of the stock Cobb tunes.

MM,

Will it be obvious which tunes are yours? Is there a naming convention you follow that is different than what Cobb uses?

My calibrations have this naming convention: "MM 2004 TURBO v2_1b", "MM 2006_7 NA v3_1b", etc.
There is a text field in each that also will have information about the content of the calibration.

What do you mean by 300 separate calibrations? Do you mean like the maps, like "valet", 2004 F/I no cat,... up to 300?? Or do you mean within one 'tune' there are many calibrations but they're all loaded at once? thanks

With all of these different types of maps being offered, it wouldnt seem out of the question that the AP could be used to upload new maps on a daily basis (though not likely). Are there any negative effects to the ECU by flashing at this rate over an extended period of time?(ie. 2yrs) If so, what is the threshold?

It was already posted earlier, but I believe the manufacturer of the ECU thought it would only be good for a few hundred flashes, but apparently Cobb believes it is somewhere closer to a few thousand.

When you flash the ECU, it's just altering some kind of solid state memory right? Does it affect the "processing" ability of the ECU at all? I'm assuming the ECU has a processor?? What I'm getting at is if it would be possible that after a lot of flashes the ECU could start to slow down and be less responsive? or is it something like the memory starts degrading after so many flashes? Would it be something you'd notice gradually or just all of the sudden, you flash one too times and your ecu is just fried?
