Lower the mixture of coolant. 70% distilled water and 30% Antifreeze. I live in Arizona and it lowered my running temps by 10+ degrees.
This is the cheapest mod to do. Next would be to install an aftermarket radiator. Also is a cooling fan mod that makes the fans come on with the throw of a switch.

Try the search button.

You could get away with 15% antifreeze & a bottle of redline water wetter in your climate . There are several cooling threads around - have a read up .

somewhere on here there's a really nice water pump being developed. Sounds like a good option.

if he's that worried about over heating then he should spend 200 bucks on the water pump, and whatever allotment of money he wants too spend for keeping the coolant fans on.

You either have the choice of buying Racing Beat's flash (for 300) or Mazsport cooling mod (for 150). The coolant pump is in a category of it's own... I've had both the Mazsport mod and RB's flash, and ofcourse would rather prefer the flash simply because most of it's attention is turned towards putting out more power from our engines.

Talking

The Mazsport Cooling Fan Control Kit is currently on sale for $129.95.

This kit lowers engine temperatures extending the coolant seal life. It also produces better A/C as an added benefit.

This is a 15 minute install easy. We have stock of this item and can ship worldwide. It weighs about 1 lb to ship which includes packing.

The normal engine temps run around 200-206. We are seeing around 180-190 with this product.

This will work on all RX8s and is great for Forced Induction.....

Here's the $5 home depot special that works as well.

The question you have to ask is when do you want to keep your temps down? In traffic or at the race track? If the answer is in traffic than go with one of the fan mods. If the answer is at the track then go with the water pump. Both will help but they are mutually exclusive in the operation ranges that they help in.

Fans help at slow speeds and the pump helps at high RPM.

And the hood vent gap at the windshield helps all the time.

I have to tell you all that this IS the first cooling mod to get! I have it and would pay twice the amount ask for the engine wear savings that running cooler will accomplish.

My second choice would be the Water Pump and the third would be a bigger radiator.

You can also goto RadioShack and pick up a $5 switch and some wire and a diode and make your own fan switch so you can manually turn on and off the fans, and leave ultimate control to the PCM so the stock computer can still turn on the fans if you forget to. And it cost under $10 total

Well, I know personally that I already have the Mazsport fan mod, have the Mazmart water pump on order, and when that goes in I'm also switching to either 85/15 water/antifreeze plus waterwetter or 100% water plus waterwetter.
