It wasn't until the last few pages that people found out about the MAF screen. Before that we did not know what the problem was.

And no I dont think I requested an offer before the 30 days. I figured since the actual product was bugged the 30 day crap wouldnt apply to it. I thought wrong...

hey rickeo i've been driving on one of the first 3 sold since around september without a screen and had put around 3k on old engine and about 15k on new engine and haven't had a problem with it. i just don;t want future problems from it. people are just sharing experiences with the intake, umnitza, and trying to make it better

LOL, you wouldn't have even known to install the screen if it wasn't for someone else's input

it's a real breeze to act like an expert once someone else figures it out for you

Actually Umnitza informed me before I purchased the intake that the MAF screens had to be installed. And just so you know Rickeo is very knowedgable. Now we all have had our shots at each other and the intake so lets call a truce...

Hmm they didnt say ANYTHING about MAF screens to me when I bought mine. If it wasn't for this thread all the simota intakes would still be screwed.

yeah, AFTER I did the research and posted the information here in this thread, congratulations Einstein

next time you both should try reading the whole thread instead of just assuming it's 23 pages of BS, if knowledge is power you two guys are due for a rebuild

Trust me when I was considering ordering the intake I read this thread from the beginning. I followed it that is what held me back from ordering it for a week. I was also in contact with Umnitza.

If theres a thread with 23 pages or so pertaining to a product you are considering buying, of course you will read it. And I did, all of it.

we have to give credit where credit is due... TEAM was the one that suggested using the MAF screen... NOT umnitza... they never told me anything about a MAF screen.....

and KONIG... that is certainly bullshit... i think that i would be applying a little pressure to them over that one...

and I have to give credit it to, it was actually Marietta8 who advised me several months ago that he thought most of the intake issues were due to not using a screen, I just went to the next level and proved it to myself by installing one on an intake that was pulled from the market due to causing a CEL. The screen eliminated the CEL issue, then also subsequently found an old RX8Club thread where somebody (can't recall the member name, the thread link is posted earlier in this one) had previously discovered the same thing with the prototype Simota intake.

I'd like to take a K&N Typhoon Version1 and see if the screen resolves it's issue too ...

I installed this intake about 3 weeks ago and transplanted one of the screens from the stock intake. I have had no problems whatsoever.

But I honestly don't think the intake helps the engine make more power, just more noise! And it looks pretty cool under the hood.

No intake on the 8 is going to make MORE power than stock... it is true that you pretty well just pay for the look/sound. I'm glad that you are not having any issues. Enjoy the intake. I love the way that it sounds.... ESPECIALLY in tunnels/overpasses or whatnot.... LOL

Wow, what a thread.

Matt,

My POV (having known you for years now) is that sending this guy the udpated part, and refunding konig (or whatever his name is) would be the proper thing to do. Customer service is very important and these two small things would go a long way in helping your companies image.

Also, i know it's old news, but izoomzoom really should have gotten the intake free, and since he no longer wants it, maybe some cash or something. His video got me excited too, if i wasn't married i would have picked one up.

2) Has anyone dynoed this intake yet? Some just go do it. It's really not a hard complicated thing. Put your stock airbox on, go do a run, spend the 25 minutes swapping out the intake and do another run. What is the problem?

The umnitza intake I bought is still here at my house, uninstalled. I haven't recieved a refund. They did send the updated part though. If I could still get a refund that would be great...

I guess we'll just have to see what umnitza says.

because it evolved into something more than its title suggests. that said, if you are no longer getting anythign useful from it, no one is forcing you to read it. it is still relevant to others, so it lives on. or is this thread kicking your puppy, and that's why you care?

Leo,

The updated parts are here. They have not proven to be necessary for the older intakes that we originally received (moonrover's) but seemed to be necessary for the new intakes given feedback from various installations including but not limited to users, factory, etc.

Refunding Konig? Well, each issue needs resolution in private. I'm no longer interested in hashing out details about refunds on the public forums. It doesn't do anyone - especially the customer - any good to hash things out without understanding both sides in public.

Konig's situation (I'm guessing) is related to a length of time on the return. We cannot handle returns past 30 days on our transaction processor and only via special considerations are even able to handle a 1 or 2 times per year issue of 60 days or less.

If you decide 45 days after receiving all the parts you suddenly don't want that item, I wish we could play Walmart, but we cannot. We are a small business.

Izoomzoom would have gotten a free intake, in fact I had every intention of doing so, perhaps my biggest fault was not communicating that as soon as we DID get an intake that was sufficiently ready (remember everyone suddenly claimed there were issues).

Let's see how this could have played out:
Izoomzoom gets a new intake and it makes his car bog and fails it. I'd be flamed.
Izoomzoom doesn't get his intake because we recognize possible issues but instead flames us anyways.
etc.

I'm not a bad guy but when people attack me for absolutely no reason, I'm sorry, my decency, benevolence, and good nature disappears. Professionalism is important, but I'm not here to serve the 3% of the people that don't appreciate my products/service. You have to cut your losses somewhere.

When anyone asked for a refund for the product that wasn't shipped or they had some doubts or concerns, they got their emails answer, refunds given immediately, and concerns addressed.

That is the sign of a good business. But random acts of kindness for people that don't appreciate it anyways aren't a good way to build a foundation for quality service because you spend all your time chasing people that aren't appreciative instead of helping those that are.
