Thanks sstricker...

I'll probably just end up getting a refund, I don't really see any need for an intake anymore.

Hey sstricker, did you notice any difference in temperature with the Simota Intake. Was the intake colder or warmer?

Yeah, to the touch. Unless you had a temperature gauge and actually recorded it.

Cooler? Is that a guess?

well i took my car out for a pretty brutal run hitting 9k quite often. the temp outside was a descent 85 degrees and humid. after pulling into the yard i popped the hood and checked to see how the intake felt . it was not only touchable it was actually COOL/COLD. i actually had it have a lil condensation on it one night so it definately is much cooler i love this intake. money well spent IMHO not as light as would be expected from CF but still lighter than stock

Thanks moonrover333. I wonder if a ram air duct or sealing the intake and adding a ram air duct would improve the intake at all...

Someone should dyno test it.

Umnitza told me that they already got dyno numbers. I asked for a dyno sheet, but they said they haven't had the chance to post it.

They reported a 8hp gain, don't know the torque numbers. They didn't tell me the specifics of the 8hp gain, so I really don't know how reliable that number is.

They might have reported that to you, but honestly, I wouldn't really trust many companies with dyno numbers and the RX-8... We all know that companies make bigger claims so people don't get mad at spending their hard earned money on 1 hp.

Yep, thats why I don't trust that number. They told me 8hp and then said that they did not remember the torque number....

I don't think they really dynoed it. But if they did, it probably wasn't dynoed within the right conditions.

yea they are local to me, no word has been spread for a test car in the west coast forum. I was originally there test vehicle for the dyno. This company operates in a small tiny shop I wouldn't really trust them too much, I was suppose to receive a free intake for them using my car as a test vehicle (im the one in those sound clips and pictures) but instead they keep making excuses for the last 4 months. I'm not really bitter now since I don't really want one now. But take it with a grain of salt with the dyno numbers.

yeah i like the intake, but i don;t think its 8whp, and umnitza kinda pisses me off. they screwed ZOOM ZOOM. i mean hell when turbo XS did there zaust on someone (i forgot who's car it was) they gave them the WHOLE EXHAUST INSTALLED FOR FREE!!! and gave em tiem on the dyno. damn! and they won't come off a flippin intake thats seems shitty to me but oh well thats why since i got the intake i 've talked directly to Simota with questions

I offered to do a dyno and they said that they already had one and won't pay for anymore...

The email I just got from them said that they will do more dynos and see what happens.

I really like the sound of their intake and from what you guys said, it does look like it keeps the intake cool.

Anyways, Moonrover333, have you found that the lack of a MAF screen has created problems for your 8, like idling problems. I know that one of the things K&N did to improve their intake was to include one maf screen.

Is it possible to put a maf screen anywhere in the Simota intake?
