So there was no sputtering when you drove constantly on 5-6K RPM?

Also, is the idle spot on compared to the stock intake, which is pretty rough, or is the Idle a lot smoother and better than stock.

Thanks

correct... no sputtering at all.

idle is smooth, more so then stock. it stays around 900 rpm consistantly.

in the two pics.... if you cannot tell a difference then look closely. the new housing has a thicker diameter than the old housing.

Wouldn't changing the MAF size throw off readings? Maybe that is why you felt such a gain. With the computer thinking it is getting less air (compared to what it is actually getting), it would lean out the A/F a little bit. That will give you good gains. Not saying it's that, but it is a possability.

yeah, I'm in-line too, they said all the parts were in stock. I got a receipt but still don't have an order confirmation on the website yet, let alone any shipping notice I really needed to get that in this weekend, thought they said I'd receive it Friday, but now it looks like that's when they'll ship it

Hey sstricker, does this new intake sound just about the same as the old one?

And how is the throttle response, quicker than the old simota one or the same?

edit: oh and about the order status on the umnitza site, for some reason it doesnt get updated very often...mine still says "pending" from the purchase of my simota intake, and that was a while back haha...

PERFECTION! the sound of this intake and exhaust.... ****..... who needs a radio! NO CEL, yet! i drove around 25-30 miles, so i'll drive at least a tank and let you know for sure... the last one threw a CEL after about 65-75 miles driven. if i'm not mistaken, i actually think that this new design pulls harder through 1-3 gears. with the traction control ON, i could easily manage to break the tires free in 2nd gear!

overall... so far... i am 100% satisfied with the new design! i will let you know for sure by the end of the week, for i am sure that i will need to fill up again...

congrats on this one! like i said, one word, PERFECTION!

mine says no order period, it still shows the intake in the shopping cart despite the receipt , but well see

1) the new one might not be quite as loud. i think it is a little softer.

2) throttle response is quick and to the point. punch it, it goes...

i will say that the old one kinda droned a bit... this one does not. it is quite passive until higher revs, 5k and above.

Then how does it work? You start messing with the size of the MAF housing, it's going to throw off your readings, unless the ECU is calibrated for it. Maybe they threw out the size a little bit to get better results?

I emailed Umnitza and they stated that the intakes will not ship out til' 3-4 days because the factory is still making improvements???

I don't know if that means sstricker's is still not fully improved or fixed...

Yeah, the other thing is that they sent me an email like over a week ago saying they got "ALL intakes." Now they tell me they are still waiting for them from the factory...thats pretty messed up.

from what I understood is that the had the actual carbon fiber part instock, but the were waiting for the metal part to come back from the company. I spoke to them on monday and they told me that that company had shipped those parts that very same day and that as soon as they got those parts they were going to ship the intakes. they estimated that they would ship on friday, monday or tuesday.

I was encouraged to order one of the updated intakes, in order to ensure that I received one at the much discounted price. I went ahead and ordered one and will let everybody know when I receive it.

yeah, was told the same thing but sometimes things like this don't go exactly as may have been expected, I'm sure they're working hard to get them out asap

well Goodwin Racing/Racing Beat came through and got the RB ram air inlet delivered to me today, so at least maybe I can get the bumper cover back on if I can find a flexible extension coupler to fit the feed into the engine bay

the intake was suppose to go Priority Mail just like the ram air inlet, so obviously that isn't going to show up as planned
