TurboXS is seeking a local RX8 owner (MD/VA area)

First off, I want to make it clear that this is not a sales post. We are not currently site sponsors, and while we may consider that at sometime in the near future, we typically don’t advertise on web forums as we leave that to various distributors.

With that out of the way, let me get to my point. TurboXS is seeking the use of a local RX8 for a day. We own an RX8 at our factory in Australia and have developed a cat back exhaust system (the first of many RX8 upgrades that we intend to release) and need to check fitment and performance on a US RX8. The results we’ve gotten on the AUS model RX8 are fantastic and I’d like to confirm these on a US car.

If there is a local RX8 owner that is willing to give up their car for a day they will receive before and after dyno runs, the cat-back exhaust system, and professional installation at no charge.

If you are interested, please contact me via email at Nathan@turboxs.com. We’d like to have access to your car ASAP.

Not sure if you are releasing this information yet, but what size is your piping?

Thanks guys, we have our test RX8 being dropped off at the shop today.

The RX8 cat back exhaust system is full 3 inch with two full 3 inch mufflers. We also have a 3 inch race pipe that replaces the stock cat pipe.

What's going on with the ECU (UTEC)?

One of our vendors announced the RX8 UTEC before we were ready to talk about it.

What's the ETA on the exhaust system assuming that there is no fitmen issue?

Assuming it fits the US RX8 as well as the AUS RX8, we'll have it available for sale by the weekend.

I want to clarify this since some of you guys may not be familiar with the way we do things based on interaction with us from other web-boards.

We have an RX8 UTEC in the works. It will be very similar to the 350z UTEC that we are releasing for sale tomorrow in that it includes the ability to run the car in almost any configuration from simply piggyback fuel controller to a full standalone that converts the car to a speed density air metering system.

The reason I say that we are not ready to talk about this is simply because I don’t have a reliable date for the product’s release. It seems like every time we get close, some other active project needs urgent attention to keep it moving in the right direction. If I gave you a date or even an estimate at this point, it would likely be wrong and just **** people off in the long run. Rather then give you a BS date, I’ll just keep quiet.

Keep an eye on the 350z UTEC information though if you wish to know the capabilities of the system since the RX8 UTEC will closely mirror that platform.

Why piggybacking/standalone? I continually see this in the import market whereas in the domestic market (USDM) there has been a strong trend of ECU reflashing. For the majority of situations, today's stock ECU provides more than you need. It looks cleaner.. no extra box to mount, no wires to cut or whatever. It also will provide consistent results... no concerns about the ECu "fighting" your piggyback.

Anyone that says that it's because the Ford ECU isn't complex hasn't done their homework. The comments from the team at Kenne Bell plainly state the opposite. Knock control isn't just a sensor... it's a whole complex system with it's own processor on the 2005/6 Mustang GT. Not to mention traction control, electronic throttle body, variable valve timing, variable intake manifold...

Back to the point... so no one else is thinking of flshing the ECU other than Racing Beat and Hymee??? Jeez...

^ If you crack it they will come!

But really if you gave someone software that would allow them to tune the stock ECU then what would stop them from Posting said software on the internet for everyone?

You need more than just software to do it. The companies that have units for Fords, and GMs offer both a simple handheld unit that has preprogrammed flashes. You just navigate the menus choosing what you have and then flash away. For more money you can get the full setup which will allow you to plug your PC into this and write you own maps, etc.

So... go ahead and post your maps. People do it here with their emanage units. But without the emanage hardware and "support tool" it's useless. Same thing here.

I'll post whatever pics and sound clips plus dyno's when I get the car back tommorow or friday. Saw the race pipe and exhaust both look very nice. Also I've heard that it takes a little bit to break in the exhaust for soud and so forth so I'll put up a review in about a week. if anyone in the nova area wants to meet up some time over the weekend and compare with either stock or greddy, borla, etc let me know

Wait a second. are you getting a midpipe and exhaust for free? or just the catback?

lol. im still really, really upset. i always, literally always go on rx8club at school during one of my classes, and today, i decided to actually do my work and not go online. well i see how that paid off. i would have had you beat by about 30 min armaant . i really want an exhaust, but my father really doesnt want me spending any more money on the car as of anytime soon(and neither does he).
