Mine has quieted down after less than 500 miles. I finally took the silencers out and it sounds great!!!

The other day, I let a couple of friends listen to it while I still had the silencers in and one of them said it wasn't nearly as loud as his 93 mustang. He also said he has never had any problem with the cops. It must have just been my unlucky day when I got pulled over.

Also, My MS CAI made it sound a lot deeper!!!

Imports will get pulled over much quicker than American muscle. Do you have the midpipe and exhaust?

Yes, I noticed that. I get pulled over for a great sounding exhaust but the POS domestic vehicles with barely any exhaust at all get to drive around blowing my damn ear drums. It's import racism!

No, I have the RX8Store HighFlow Cat.

I may have missed it in the thread but what is the weight of the TXS compared to stock?

btw.. if you get the TXS catback, please make sure not to run it with the stock cat.. it sounds HORRIBLE. Farty, rattling crap sound. Gotta couple it with a high flow cat or midpipe. Due to some recent car problems, I had to reinstall the stock cat to get less hassle from the dealership. On the drive home, i was incredibly embarrassed at how droney and rattley my car sounded. I noticed so many ppl looking over or turning around from the streets because it was just so obnoxious. I might be a hair louder with the midpipe on (and that may translate to obnoxious for some) but IMO it's way more bearable than how I cruised around today... blech..

Anyone with just TXS catback that can attest to this? Perhaps I just rushed the install of my stock cat last night and something wasn't tightened completely.. shrug.

I've actually noticed the same crappy sound when the exhaust is connected to the stock cat. Idle sounds very "farty". Once you get in the mid rpms it doesn't sound too bad.
It's due to a leak at the connection between the exhaust and the stock cat (where the spring go). There's no way to get it entirely flush.

I've tried everything, even taking it to a muffler shop. They couldn't do anything. RTV sealant around the gasket wouldn't work. You can feel the air coming out thru there.
I didn't have this problem with the turboxs midpipe since the connection was leak tight.

Pretty interesting thread guys. I just took a little time to read I am glad those who have our exhaust love it. We are lowering the price on these units you can check the site for that. We are also throwing in a free race pipe for a limited time.

I just emailed you, this is great news. I was a little bit discouraged that maybe the rx8 community was too harsh on TurboXS and that the relationship has been destroyed. This is VERY good news. I have money ready, respond to my email! hehe, im excited.

Wow, what a good deal! If I wasn't getting a HKS exhaust I would jump all over this deal.

$500 for the catback AND midpipe? Oh man that's tempting, even for me. You could put a nickel between my finger and thumb, and pick me up off the ground with a pair of channel locks, ha ha. At that price, you can pay an exhaust shop to tweak the tip length if it bugs you, and still get a good deal for the money.

I have to ask though, has the fitment/leakage problem been resolved? Did everyone have that problem, or just a few? If it doesn't fit right, can I return it?

edit: Those who have it, is your car lowered any, and if so are you scraping over speed bumps? I have Tein S-techs waiting to go on my car when I get around to replacing my factory shocks...maybe H-techs would be a better idea if I wanted to use this exhaust.

edit2: I wonder if they are lowering the price to liquidate their current inventory in order to make some changes?

my thoughts exactly, luckily i work in a shop so if theres any problems hopefully i can resolve them, are you able to order an extra gasket set to double them up???

Just ordered this to replace my Racing Beat exhaust. I'll have first hand knowledge on the sound/performance difference between the two soon. I wouldn't have found out about this deal if it weren't for this forum, so thanks to the RX-8 community.
