And they don't clear the bumper. View it from the side, you won't see anything. From behind they don't look too bad. I removed the ugly silencers as well...

On my car, the tips are about two inches from the furthest point of the rear bumper. So yes, when looking from the side, it looks like I have no exhaust at all.

I mean the tips themselves are a decent size in diameter.. it's just that they're short and don't protrude..personally, i don't mind the look. I suppose it's more of a stock look than my old borla and again, from the side, it's invisible. But there's no way that anyone within earshot is going to mistake my car for stock.. but that's 100% got to do with the midpipe and not the catback..

I had the same problem. I think after awhile I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't use the springs. Just tighten the **** out of it. I don't know if that is what you are supposed to do, but it seems to work.

Just installed my Turboxs cat back to today. Checked for leak and I found a big one. I tighten the nuts and bolts as far as it can go. Is the gasket to small??

circle in red is where Is leaking.

I am going to have mine installed this week. I'll let you guys know if I run into the same issue...

Can someone please tell me if that is a picture of the TurboXS mid pipe or the actual pipe leading away from the muffler. I am asking because of the resonator on that pipe... Does the TurboXS exhaust system come with a resonator or is that a picture of the mid pipe?

Thankx...

I am having the SAME exact issue.. where'd you purchase your catback?

anyway, yeah.. the first night we installed it there was a big leak.. we knew it wasn't because we didn't tighten the bolts enough.. we used an impact gun.. the next day we got some bigger bolts and the leak was no longer audible but instead was felt.. the leak is on the top of that connection...

it's been suggested that i either double up on the gasket or use some liquid silicone or something.. haven't had the time to try any of that yet.. and it's not like the small leak i'm getting will affect me much -- i'm not racing or anything.. when i have time i'll see if the "fix" will work.. if not, then there's gotta be something wrong with the flange or something..

btw, yes, every picture of the TXS 'catback" shows the part of the catback with the cans, but DOES NOT show the connecting pipe to the cat.. instead it shows the midpipe..

I took my to the shop. Took it apart. I looked at the gasket it looks like its leaking from the top and bottom part. I lined the pipes up then tightened the nuts and bolts.
there is still a gap. Yes Double gasket MAY help. Turboxs should ship us another gasket.
I've look other pictures and judging from the black blamish his is also leaking

I have a small leak in that area too. I might try some type of high temp sealant to fix the issue, or try to create another gasket.

so once again we are beta testing for the rx8..... they did not respond to the looks of the tips... could be fixed easy.....

got brushed aside and said do you want preformance..... someone noted that the connecting pipe was low....

and now here we go.... sorry, but for that kind of money... the stuff should be bullet proof.......

i am now doubting the # for the exhaust.... i will try to do a roll on with that exhaust in the near future...

beers

Yah, which really sux. You would think it has been tested etc..
if the gasket was to small they could at least provide us with thicker ones

The performance is great, but it looks like ****, can hardly see the tips, an doesn't fit right in a few areas. I think they could have done a better job, but again, I got it for the performance, not the looks.

Agreed. I can vouch for the HP numbers though. I gain 47hp with midpipe and catback.

You won't pass emission with a midpipe and turbo. I bought some new tips which I will have installed when I get back from my trip next week. They are a bit long, so they need to be trimmed down by a machine shop.

I'm interested in picking up this set up but has anyone tried or found a solution to the exhaust leaking? and does anyone have a sound clip to this set up? ( perferrably with TXS Mid pipe and cat back)

Aligning the pipes and flanges as precisely as you can before tightening is a good thing. I have heard that doubling up gaskets does work for some people (other aftermarket exhausts though). I am quite certain that over-tightening is never a good thing because of someting to do with thermal expansion.

My best advise is to contact TurboXS about a recommnded torque setting and using a torque wrench. They may recommend incrementally tightening nuts in specific order. Remember too that once you crush a gasket it's done. Also make sure to check the heat tolerance of any sealant you plan to use as the temperature right after a cat is extremely high.

Got pulled over!

I installed my RX8Store HF Cat and TurboXS catback over the weekend. It sounds great.

However, I took it out for a test drive and got pulled over within 5 miles.

I didn't get a ticket or anything but I went home and put the silencers in just in case. I figure I'll wait and see how it sounds after a couple of weeks then I might take them back out.

I haven't noticed a leak in the catback yet but when I installed it I did notice that connection doesn't fit together very well. Hopefully It wont leak...

They only wrote me up for a modified intake. It was dark, and they couldn't see the intercooler. They gave me a ticket to see the state ref. Since I had a turbo, I said screw it and just paid the fine. It was only loud because it was the first day it was on. After a few months, it got MUCH quieter.
