You have to know what you are looking at.

For instance, the '04 has three main 3D fuel maps that are also speed-dependent.
Those are, in turn, modified by a pair of "closed-loop" maps and a series of temperature and other conditional maps, each with their own set of lambda targets.
Simply saying "I want 12:1 at 5500 RPM and 200 g/sec of airflow" will lead you to modify 5 or more maps that are all interdependent in not so obvious ways.
Then, there is a Ve map on top of that and the fuel trims, MAF calibration, injector scaling and latency, etc...
However, the knowledge of the community will grow.

When everything is put on the table, many people can look at, and test solutions. There will be mistakes, corrections, failure, but also progress. Maps will be dissected, analyzed, argued about, etc... The proof will be at the dyno and performance.

Furthermore, while some "hide" knowledge, others will openly share it. Including those that will offer to explain the "traps" and "pitfalls" of tuning.

No doubt.
As usual, I will lay out, in a very detailed way, exactly how the OE tuning works.
And, as usual, the vast majority of the folks out there will never grasp it; or worse - will grasp just enough of it to completely screw it up.

I think that is why EFIDude shipped ProLogger before shipping a reflash device. You need to have before and after data to confirm changes.

I've only used the Dude tools and know they can do it. I also think Hymee's will be able to given what he has said so far.

I feel a bit like Huc Fin.

Find very large hornet's nest.
Grab very large stick.
Smack the crap out of the nest.
Run.....

Great Dialog! I'll try and post as much as I can (as much as the guys that are letting me use their stuff will let me). Any comments or additions would be welcome. I am also willing to try things that others want to see done until such time as anyone can download the same tools that I am using. Hopefully they will be available to all very soon.

It will be interesting to see if two tools on opposite ends of the spectrum can be used in combination to provide knowledge to all.

This is the truth! Look at how many people cant tune a Canzoomer or an eManage Ultimate.

Let me give you an even better example...

Our company utilizes and SAP software package for all business operations. The software is so convoluted that our company then went to a 2nd party and paid them to build a frontend that sits on a server and interacts with the SAP software to make it easier to use. We then have a service contract with the 2nd party company for software support to fix current bugs and do future inprovements.... thats how the real world operates and is exactly how an AccessPORT bought through a tuner acts.

We certainly do not own the SAP sourcecode or our frontend software sourcecode... we mearly own the hardware to operate the frontend software and licenses to use SAP and the frontend software.
