I'm definitely ordering the pipe this week. I just sold my SR intake, because I needed the money , but just found a nestegg at home I forgot about. I'll have my high flow cat on with the already installed Racing Beat exhaust, and will add my 2c here as well.

you want the highest flow rate possible with FI...the stock cat wouldn't allow sufficient flow at the rate of the forced exhaust also the o2 sensor would need replacing or tricked...ideally you would want just a mid-pipe (no-cat), with forced induction that would dampen the noise from it not having the cat or resonator...but for street legal use a high flow/high temp cat would definitely be in order...

Will this high flow/high temp cat design cook the armrest console even more than it is getting cooked currently? Will I need some protection somwhere from the heat transfer?

i don't know if there would even be enough space in the tunnel with an aftermarket Cat...i mean looking under the car with RT's 5 inch there wasn't anymore room for ANYTHING...the only option would be to use some heat shielding that applies onto the tunnel ceiling directly beneath the console...i haven't tried any of that...i don't know if the heat difference will be noticable enough inside the cabin though...

or you could look at it this way....it would be a perfect place to keep your take out warm on the ride home in rush hour traffic....LOL...:D

i have borla and would like the sr setup. i am anxious to know if its too loud.
i have the RE intake and Borla and it gets pretty loud under full accel over 6k but i like it.
i am curious as to the sound at normal highway speeds.
let us know and good luck with your new borla.

I'll wait until I hear a sound clip for full judgement, but I speculate it's going to be very loud with the borla. I have the CZ mid-pipe with a resonator and it's loud. Looking at the pics I don't see a resonator on that mid-pipe.

Nice pictures, thanks Dave. In looking at the hi-flow cat there doesn't seem to be a resonator on it. Wouldn't that make it quite a bit louder than the Canzoomer version ?

I really dont think it is going to be much louder than running the borla exhaust without a left tip... It's amazing how much louder it got with just that piece missing...

We will see though

Lets just put it this way.. it's a sound that we all dont want It's much louder and sounds nasty at 65 mph when you accelerate...

Borla could definitely sell this design to the ricer club...

I feel embarassed driving it haha...

At least if it sounded like the original borla, just louder, that woud have been fine.. but it doesnt...

The best way I can describe it is car vibrating, insanely loud and annoying, (espeacilly at freeway speeds) and it's nothing any of us want....

If you want to get rid of the noise you are going to need to weld in an additional strait muffler. Omicron has a post in the DIY forum about it. I ordered the part from Random Tech and it's on back order.

I'm sure yours is pretty darn loud. Mine is annoying and I have the additional resonator on the mid-pipe.

You aren't reading Dave's comments correctly.

His Borla without the one of the end pipes missing sounds like ****. I don't think he has installed the cat yet.

Just as some advice. Dave, whenever you take close-ups, use the macro mode of your digital camera (universally it is designated as a button with a flower icon). Also turn on more room lighting if at all possible or increase the exposure time somehow.

I would like to get a close-up pic of the cat to try and figure out what brand it is. It would be nice to know how hot it can operate.
