It turns out (as some have already mentioned) that the RX-8 ecu reading/writing is unique and different than other applications (even within other Mazda vehicles). We've also spent some time with the Mazda 6 during the past couple weeks and it's completely different than the RX-8.
At this time, I do not want to predict a release date (that usually gets one in trouble). What I will say is that we are going to do this project and it will be done before Summer.
bascho, I'm sorry if you regret defending me. Although I appreciated it, it is not necessary for you to do so.

I really was just about to resurrect this thread...this could have great potential for use in conjunction with some of the FI kits that are being released this upcoming summer...

i emailed with them today and here's what i can pass along
now dont get all bent about the delay- they are still adamant about this project and are moving it along- just not as fast as they wanted to intially- but they are still developing and will have it available.
Basically where we're at is that we're working on developing the templates.
Templates are needed in order to develop performance programs. They tell us
(in english) exactly where the different tables, maps & functions are (fuel,
spark, limiters, etc...). We could try to program in hex, but with the
complexity of these newer style computers, that may end up being a longer
process. Besides, developing templates will allow us to offer tuning
software to shops/individuals in a format that they can understand.
As far as time frame, it's a little difficult to pin down an date. I can
tell you that it will be later than I first mentioned. We have so many
projects (maybe too many) going on right now that we cannot devote as much
time as we would like to the RX8.

It is an alternative method to changing or adding a computer chip. The Mustang fired right up and was ready to rock and roll."
So fastsvtss, is this the Predator you are talking about?

Theres no undo key for a botched upload on the GM units.
Although, I got FULL functionality in the C5/Z06 unit's ive been working with using LSedit, the Predator handheld unit was pretty limited in what you can do, but was priced accordingly.
$600 is about the going rate for a FULLY programmable software package for the GMs right now...id pay that again.

Ha! Good one, it'd be a vote for big oil for sure.
10 bazillion cars on the highway at 16mpg, and all consuming a qt per 1000mi "normally".
You got my vote.
Nowto buy stock in whomever makes the best two-stroke oil..

This tuner would probably be the only mod I would buy considering I could disable the CAT CEL and run a midpipe.
