Just installed my short shifter today. No problems not much more noise, just a little if you really try and listen for it. As for the feel, its great. Everything everyone has said about it is true.
You can go through the gears with just a flick of the wrist and its much more precise.
It really gives the car a better feel just making me love this car even more.

Whew! Just finished all 378 posts and will PM you with my info.
Name? Try "Snickster" but in marketing you'll have to say "Snickster (Snick Shifter)". Or, to add the micro-touch part "Smickster" (Snick Micro-touch Shifter).
I too experienced the 5-2 instead of 5-4 early on and have made that adjustment to avoid. However, seems like every time I make a fast freeway onramp, I'll crash 3-4 and sometimes 2-3 and 4-5. Only happens between 5.5k-6.5k. When I went to Buttonwillow for a track day, I expected to be double-clutching all day, but found the tranny smooth as silk when always shifting in the 7k-9k range. That was fun!! Anyway, I recall a couple posts in this regard, but none that mentioned being mitigated by your shifter.
Per a recent post, 35 years back, when I was taking autoshop classes in high school and jr. college, I heard that shifting gears with the engine off would encourage gear and synchcro crashing and possible damage. Any truth to that?

Hi all...installed my SS this morning, first one in Singapore? Well my trusty little 10mm wrench did it's job...the only bitch was removing the top boot, it was almost fused to the stock shifter! Maybe the humidity here. Anyway, after dropping in the new toy, shifting through all the gears was a snap, amazing really. Btw, thanks Gomez for your DIY thread, very informative and helpful. So, I eagerly put everything back together and went for a spin.
Initial impressions were positive...clean and precise shifting in the lower gears, 2-3 a totally new and welcome experience, especially in the high revs! The short throw is excellent. However, I did notice the (now infamous?) increase in gear noise so I continued driving and shifting constantly to work it in further. No reduction in noise. Came back to this thread and picked up the tricks....removed the green wad and didn't tighten the **** nearly as much as before. Noise is still there in the lower gears, but considerably less, and after a while I really didn't give a damn because the grin factor of this new shifter more than compensates
It takes a little while to get used to...exiting the highway I dropped from 5th into 2nd :o but with a bit of practice did 5-4 shifts no probs. Reverse is fine, didn't really notice any difference over the stock in that dept. All in all, a great mod!

Yep, normal. You don't have the rubber isolator to dampen the stop at the end of the throw. That's what makes thia shifter so good! It feels much more direct.

Thanks Gomez. One other question, anybody with the RP SS change their shift **** to Momo, Autoexe, MS or whatever? I'm curious if any of the after market ***** reduce noise when coupled with the SS while your hand is on it. There are various materials to consider as well....leather wrap on wood, CF, all AL, etc?

genesis...beware of shift ***** without a nylon threaded insert...i bought a full titanium **** from ARC, and the heat cycling has caused the threads to bind. now the only way to get the **** off will be to cut the shifter 
you may have better luck with a steel or aluminum ****, but be aware

I've been thinking about the effect of holding the **** which leads to increased noise. If the **** is grounded (for lack of a better word) by holding it, then sound resonates up through the gearbox. Something to do with the specific length of the SS? When a standing wave bounces back and forth on itself it will resonate and amplify. Seems that holding the **** causes this effect. When not holding, the random vibrations that cancel out standing waves are in play so less or zero noise as a result. Seems that the green wad increases the likelihood of standing waves, so best to remove it.
I have to say, the more I use the shifter the more I'm enjoying my ride

Hey Richard quick question did you ever do any testing with the illuminated ****, ever since I put that shift **** on there has been a ton more vibration and noise at 8500-9000 rpm especially in 3rd gear. Doesn't bother me too much since its so high up, but is it physically hurting anything by vibrating and is there anything I can do?

I had a similar issue pre-RPSS. It turned out to be the silver cap of the lighted **** buzzing at high RPM. I resucured the small screw that holds the cap to the **** with a little lock tight and the problem has not returned. I'm currently running the illuminated **** with the short shifter and all the fuzz with no issues.

That can be done. But not until the week after next as we are out again. We just got the raw stock in from the saw shop today. The shafts will run next week along with the S2000 ones. It then takes a few more days to produce the polymer parts. Then assemble them. That's the time line as of now.
Your choice, ship now or later?
