Polak, I want to see your shifter complete. I'm sending you a new one today. Return your old one complete when you get the new one.
Let me know how the new one works out, if it changes things.

What a service!

Just got mine instaleed today.

I like it very much. I don't see how any one can complain about missing 2nd or 3rd gear with this shifter let alone the other gears. Rifle bolt shifting.

Well I certainly figured out what was wrong with my shifter, see picture :-p

This one feels alot better btw! 1-2 2-3 3-4 4-5 and 5-6 all feel great every shift at 8000-9000.

Damn, I wasted a whole new shifter on you when it was just the cup.
From now on I think everyone has to deal with Gomez, he seems to know about these things.

It is sweet I agree Razz1, but a gear can be missed if there is an issue with the transmission like synchros not meshing properly.

I installed the RP shifter Saturday and I cannot believe the difference it makes to the feel of the transmission. I didn't notice any extra noise or vibration after the install but it still takes a bit of re-adjustment now that I can feel what's going on!

Every MT RX-8 should get this mod.

Thanks for a great product Richard!

I got to compare my AFE with my brother's OEM yesterday.
It's quite a shock to feel how rubbery the OEM shifter is. I could never go back.

He tried mine and I think that Richard's going to have another customer real soon!

Hey guys, just installed this shifter and it's certainly solved my first to second problem! One question remains, however. Since getting this car I've never been able to downshift into second at any rpm higher than maybe 5k. Yeah, I can double-clutch, which helps sometimes, but just straight downshifting, it won't let me through the gate. As awesome as Richard's shifter is, it unfortunately has not made this go away. Is this normal?

Heel-toe shift. Works for me at just about any rpm. And, be nice and relaxed when engaging the gears, don't be too rough about it. When you match the engine speed just right you'll know it, smooth engagement.

For those of you with both a high-flow cat and this short shifter, which would you recommend as the most beneficial. RP supercat or AFE shifter? Thanks for the input.

NO, you need to install the orginal shifter and take it in to the dealer.

You should have done this first.

If you take it in with the SS they will void the warrenty work on the syncro's.

Depends upon what you are going to do and where you live.

RP Cat will void emmissions in certain states.

If you want performance it's the RP Cat, but they agin it depends upon return on investment. Lot's of money for that plus shipping.

If you go RP SS it will feel better, but won't make you go faster, at least nothing you can measure unless you continually drag or race your car on the track.

So you're able to just straight downshift into second with no problem? I took it in once and they said there's nothing wrong with it, "that's just how this transmission is," which we all know is usually b.s.

They didn't even flinch with mine but I was having issues before it and they replaced the whole transmission. (Didn't have time to switch it out as I didn't have the stock shifter with me when the transmission started popping out of gear).

Reason I purchased the shifter was to remedy what they said was not a problem, getting into gear at higher RPMs...

Is great now with the new transmission. 1500 miles on it so far and all is well. Will switch over to synth again and baby it for a while.

As for this or the high flow cat I purchased this first and would do the same as it is noticed all the time. The cat is noticed but it is because it raises the volume of the exhaust note...

If a person has a CZ the cat is first as stage 2 makes a big difference over stock.
