If we buy the n/a interceptor can it be tuned if we get a turbo?

I have the LC-1 wideband on order When I get it installed, I will be pulling separate data logs on my AFR to determine where I will be tuning. I'm leaning heavily with Scott's solution. Can't wait to see how Scud Runner's car progress's. I think that 12.8 to 13.0 is a safe tune for long life on the Renesis. It would be nice to have a separate map for pushing the envelope, so to speak, for the extra 10 RWHP that 13.5 might get us. It's the timing that will be tricky, and I have faith that Scott can let us know what works best.

Now, I just need to find a dyno tuner in the Pacific Northwest that can tune this puppy one day in the fuure.

Sorry we got this thread off-topic. Back on topic now :D
your running too lean - keep in mind that 13.5 afr on a cz canscan (like mine) is about 13.0 on a regular canscan/scanalyzer for whatever reasons (I assume your using one of the two later ones since your afr report so low). That is without a doubt the knock sensor pulling ignition timing from you - richen things up a bit and you will see the timing relax.

This is why i would suggest anyone going the interceptor route to get their units professional dyno tuned - its not doubt a great solution to tuning but there aren't any safeguards to bail you out in a DIY tuning application.

Yup, I have been looking at the LC-1. I'll probably get it when I buy an Interceptor-X or Xede, whichever catches my fancy.

Well, today is the X day.

For what we have read in the forum today the X-EMS has been installed in a N/A RX8 and run in a dyno.

I can not wait more to see the results!!!

Everyone please remember that the unit may be on and they may dyno but it's a new approach for them and many factors influence dyno results. Scott sure sounds like he knows what he is doing so lets give him some time here. Not to throw water on the fire but I do remember that RB has been working on this for a while and all though they announced some benefit they where not getting great gains. They also where working with mods the factory ecu not using a stand alone. Does that make a differance? I don't know. All I know if 230 or so can be gotten to the wheels then he is going to have a hell of a market.

I would definitely not count on 230 to the wheels for a rx8. If they can get 200 whp, we all should be ECSTATIC!

I think Olddragger meant including all of the standard bolt-ons, not just the interceptor. I hope 230 is possible, that would be wild.

If you haven't heard the news, Vishnu's Xede on an N/A didn't do so well. I hope this Interceptor-X will make it good.

I'm using e-manage with minimal mods. I recently dynoed 188 HP on mustang dyno. That's what, 200+ HP on dynojet? Baseline was 145 HP.

Details here: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/145-188-rwhp-mustang-dyno-70398/

Yes I meant with the usual bolt on"s. Sorry I didnt say that and thanks for the clarification. We have a member of our group to already dyno 204 with the revi intake, act pro lit flywhell, rb catback, and light ssr wheels. He was on the P flash. He owns Mazcare and knows how to set the car up. So over 200 has already been done. We have several other dynoing over 190. Dont want to get into a "dyno thing" here. Just awaiting some findings. All cross your fingers.

I bet that 210-215 whp will be feasible and yet tuning in the safe side.

I also bet that drivability and fuel comsumption will be -greatly- improved.

I also bet that the removal of the stock cat will be a must.

Please Mazsport, where are the results ????!!!!

Regards

I think there are a few people who are expecting to hear that by retuning the ecu they are going to get 35-40 hp more out of the engine. This just ins't going to happen. I'd expect 10-15 more. I do think the engine itself is capable of more but that will require internal work.

Are you holding off on stenciling out those irons on hold? I know a while back when guitarjunkie was doing his port job that you mentioned you might be able to build some irons utilizing your flowbench to find the best kind of port. I'd love to see someone do that, and you seem to know an ungodly(no pun intended) amount about these kind of engines.

I'd love to see 15 horsepower out of this ECU, that's not shabby at all considering it will be much more reliable and less quirky than a silly emanage. Not kncoking the emanage but this seems to be on a-whole-nother level.

Remember the thread titled: 15% Power Gain Software Install Done ?

ElScorpio said "...Before they removed the Cat and installed the soft were the car was put on a dyno. It read 167kw at the engine (223HP) after the installation of the Software and exhaust the reading was 190KW (254HP) at the wheels..."

That was a 31 HP gain which was amazing if it truely is true. I think that each car is going to benefit differently from tuning with either Scott or Shiv's computer, based on the installed mods per car. I dynoed at 180.5 SAE corrected with 139 lbs. of torque before I installed my REVi intake and my RP SuperCat midpipe. If I can tune 20 more horsepower, then I will buy one. But if only 10-15 is all we are going to get, then the decision will be a hard one to make.

You are right RG.

But RE Ameimya did show in some magazine that intake, exhaust manifold, muffler and retune gets 22.3ps.

So it is possible....

Racing Beat says ecu programming doesn't produce enough results to even bother working on... and everyone knows they never lie so any gains are not possible :p

I'd rather claim a conservative number and have it blown away than to claim a high number and never be able to hit it. Only time will truly tell if there is alot mroe or not in the engine but at least we now have the control to find out.
