Which Intake System puts out the most HP?

I plan on purchasing a new intake system for my 04 RX, and was curious to know which Intake short/cold, makes the higher numbers?

The one that has a turbo just after it

seriously - seems they don't do a lot no matter what brand you get .

lolol yeaaa he's right. but anyways the ones with the best performance are the AEM cold air intake or Mazdaspeed cold air intake or the Racing Beat revi with ram air duct. BTW the aem and the mazdaspeed are the same. only difference is the damn price.

I agree. I myself, am getting the RB setup. Guess it's cuz I feel I can trust their 30+ years experience with Rotary engines. But that's just me.

None of them add horsepower, no matter what they say. They just add more noise...

how many intakes have you bought and dynoed?

You're going to get some gains, but they're going to be in the 3-5 hp range, not enough to matter. But several small hp gain bolt-ons will add up.

They may not add tons of power...but it is more than just a noise maker...at least with the AEM...RacingBeat...and Mazdaspeed.

I mentioned 3-5 hp. I don't consider that significant, but you claimed there were no gains. Which isn't true.

So your saying that an engine getting cooler air than it gets stock..doesnt make any power? Also, racing beat must be lying about their gains?

Personally, for a NA intake, I like the RB. I've even bought one with the air duct. It channels cold air into the intake without directly exposing the filter to the elements.

AEM/MS intakes would be my second choice.

Or you can buy the air duct for $130 and use it with your stock box.

^^^ I agree, if you are going to buy one buy the RB set-up. It seems to be the best made. I still say only your butt will know the difference, but thats ok too.

otherside. go look search find the dyno numbers. i am afraid you are not correct in this matter. although no significant gains are found (like 10 to 15 on a honda) its that the 8 has an already almost perfect intake system.

The stock intake gets the same cold air the aftermarket ones get.

You'll see a little gain, usually in the upper-mid to high range, at a cost to low range power.

I just got the RB ram air duct , K&N drop in & took out the baffles & one of the mesh screens before the maf.
I doubt any other intake would get any more gain than I got doing that .
Can't prove that of course - when you are talking 2-3 hp even a dyno has a hard job finding the difference.

I second the RB setup. There are people on the board who also just buy the duct and a different intake(SR) they preferred over the revi. The stock intake really is already cold air. The air inlet is outside the engine bay. With Racing Beat, however, it is further away still and further toward the ground as opposed to level with the engine bay. Also, I beleive the air inlet on the Revi is slightly larger than stock and thats where the power is.

That being said, I thought I noticed gains from it. Well, I know that on cold nights, like tonight was, I notice so much difference in the car. Dunno if the stock intake would react the same as it is already cold air or what. But them specializing in rotarys also was a heavy factor in my decision.

bottom line, it all comes down to aesthetic looks of the intake and preference..just stay away from the k&n version 1 intake..

the stock intake acheives near 100% volumetric efficiency through 8k rpms... so the only thing your going to get out of any intake is noise and a few hp in a 1k wide rpm band
