How does this RP Supercat look?
How does this RP Supercat look?
So i am about to purchase a used supercat, and wanted be sure that its okay. Is it normal to look like that in the first picture? Also, the seller is not including the bolts and gaskets. Are they something i can get from a local Pep Boys or do i have to get it from Rotary Performance?
Any advice would be appreciated!

the bolts and gaskets can come from rp or someone on the forums, or any mazda dealership.... the super cat that you show in the pic is the 1st gen one. it looks like as far as a digital picture can show it still looks good. this cat flows good but a 2nd gen rp supercat will flow a little better.... if you have any questions just call us 972 530 3335 or email us at rpsales@rx7.com
you know i'm not sure about pep boys having them, but they are only a phone call away .... and yea you can get them other than from us if you really want to be cheap bang out the studs on your stock cat and use the old gaskets off your stock cat... but i wouldn't recommend it.... it might work just fine for you but its just better to put new gaskets and bolts on there
Well its not so much the cost factor as much as the time i have to wait to get it shipped over. But i guess ill go with the new ones from you guys. One other question, in case the cat were to go bad, would I still be eligible of sending it back to RP even though i would be the second owner?
wow,
somehow i mentioned a photo of the cat.. and the people that make the pipes show up..
to the op.. that photo shows a very healthy cat..
to rp..
what is the newest version and do you have a photo of the insides of it?
beers

So i'm supposed to be receiving the supercat in the mail in about 12 hours, and i was wondering: where the flange of the supercat (as shown in pic 1) connects to the downpipe, would i be using the stock gasket (whatever that there right now)?
i think when you buy the gasket/bolt kit from rp, they only give you the "donut" gasket that connects the other end of the cat to the exhaust. so what happens to the other end of the cat?

i would have bought the bolts/gasket from rp directly, but i really want to install the supercat right away, so i am going to come up with the necessary gasket or gaskets and bolts on my own.
you can re-use the old gaskets.
for the front 3 bolt flange just get some stainless steel bolts from an autoparts store. should be an M10x40mm with standard threads. you will also need an M10 nut and a lock washer.
for the rear 2 bolt flange(the one with the springs), you will have to get the studs from mazda if yours are siezed like mine were. otherwise you should still be able to use the old ones.
