I will agree with Sammy in that if there's any difference, it'll most likely be apparent when running the kidney busting spring equipped coilovers that the Japanese tuners like to run. As for whether it's upside down, bring your car to the meet tonight with a jackstand and a flashlight.

Hey I was just reading because I was interested in this product. On the cusco site there are some interesting vids about chassis tuning. In particular they do an extensive strut tower bar test to show how performance is improved. Also they have movies about coilovers and LSDs

I agree, the torsional ridgity of the car is amazing, only a few cars surpass it.

i'm pretty sure speedsource uses their roll cage in the car to stiffen the chassis rather then some bolt on under car thing...

What's the definition of a "few"? A few in the price range of the car or less? The car is pretty stiff, but my rear dash creaks when the rear suspension is being put under load and that's due to chassis flex so it's definately got room for improvement in my book.

I mean very few, there was a great list on some website a long time ago, I cant find it.
But a quick google search:

Mazda Rx-8: 30,000 Nm/deg (VERY VERY HIGH)

For comparison

Porsche 911 Turbo 996: 27,000 Nm/deg
Koenigsegg CC-8: 28,100 Nm/deg
Rolls Royce Phantom: 40,000 Nm/deg
Ford GT: ~ (29000 Nm/deg - 30352 Nm/deg)

The only cars I can think of with greater numbers are the veyron, the phantom, and the pantom drop top (these weight a lot, very hard to increase the rigidity and keep the weight a minimum.)

Interesting, I wish you had the actual source these numbers come from Everything I was able to dredge up was off of forums, nothing semi-official. Even the percentages of increase for the RX8 from the RX7 produced a range of 70-100% from what I found. Do we know how these measurements are made? is it an average of flex from the transmission tunnel/front axle/rear axle? Or just a number taken of overall chassis flex axle to axle?

I wish they had the numbers for some of the more exotic cars, like the carbon fiber monocoque chassis GT1 road cars from the 90s (Nissan R390, Toyota GT-One, Mercedes CLK-GTR, Porsche 911 GT1, etc). I bet they're ridiculous.

would stuff like this or the autoexe underbraces help minimize frame damage in the event of a crash?

is it for sure that the carbing set is lighter than autoexe? any actual weights?

how can you tell the autoexe set is stiffer?

do the tunnel members add to the chassis stiffness or are they there for driveline protection only?
