Got my Carbing under-brace installed today

It defiantly has stiffened up the car, but I cant use my Beat Racing tranny brace with it. I had clearance issues with it and my exhaust, but after some bending we got it not to hit anymore.

how is the clearance?...i have just the rear bar and i have maybe 2 inches.....but then again my car is lowered with espelir springs too

The auto ExE was in to many pieces, as much support as one piece. Sammy has the auto ExE and this seemed stiffer. I paid nothing i stole it form him :) . It weights a lot, IDK the exact amount though. Your sways will be fine, I installed my rear last night. I'm going to do the front today. The clearance should be fine, you have to take off the factory supports. I will take more pics for you.

the carbing brace is a lot lighter than the autoexe one

hmmm, its seems like they could have used aluminum instead of the steel, I would think that an I beam type aluminum set up would be a lot lighter than the steel, and almost as stiff/rigid.....if it is steel I imagine its quite heavy

The RX-8 has one of the stiffest chassis ever made, how do you reckon it's stiffer now?

Do you think under braces are a waste of money if the purchaser is buying them for the reason of improving the rigidity of the RX-8 chasis?

well, mazdaspeed motorsports also makes an under brace as well, I dont think they would make one for no reason......do you ?

when I jack up one corner of my rx8 just high enough to pull a wheel off, the other end of the car goes up with it too.

Does Speedsource use that brace on their car? Mazdaspeed also offers a cold air intake that has very debatable gains so the argument "Well it's offered so it must do something" holds no weight. If money is to be made and people will buy it, why wouldn't Mazda get in on the act?

If it's for race car,then it's no need these brace,bcoz these race car already done the spot weird on the chassic.But for these street car,I dun think people will do the spot weird,then u might need some brace to make ur chassic stiffer.

people who are running the stock suspension may not be able to tell the difference as the stock shocks will absorb most of the force during hard corning. however, if you have a full suspension upgrade already, it will be a different story.

Here's my professional opinion about these braces:

In terms of pure chassis bending, these braces won't add that much, though in torsion they might be able to add something through the extra stiffening of the transmission tunnel. The cross braces should be a bit more solid than the stamped steel pieces that come stock, and these pieces are tied together more. I'm sure if you rig tested the chassis to get stiffness numbers, you'll get a somewhat higher figure for torsion, and a very marginally higher figure for bending.

The main question though is whether the gains are in the region of diminishing returns; i.e. does the extra gain in stiffness offset the weight penalty? That I'm not so sure about and is the real reason why I'm interested in whether Speedsource runs bracing. After all, racing is the best indicator of what combination of compromises are worth it and what are not. I also see that the braces seem to attach to a rear suspension pick-up point. I can't say whether that's a gain or not since the picture doesn't show where it's attaching very well and I haven't studied the rear suspension pick-up points in detail.

I have noticed a diffrence but I did install my sway bars the next night. The sways made a huge difference! I think I installed my rear one upside down, how can I tell?
