Ahh Charles R. you are so right...I can't tell you how many instructors that rode with me on my first instructional track day gave me compliments on the abilities of the car. They all went something like this...

*instructor walks up to the car* "wow this sure is a pretty car"
*instructor sits in the car* "wow this car is pretty comfortable...cool interior."
*after a lap around the track* "Wow this is a really nice car!"

Yeah thats basically the purpose of a flywheel.

I felt a stronger torque gain from my intake/under drive pulley being installed at once compared too my flywheel...

Where would one purchase flywheel bolts? Counterweight you can get from pettit...but do you just need OEM flywheel bolts? or do you need special bolts (as indicated in the first post)

if you purchace the counter weight, then they SHOULD come with it. at least my ccounter weight purchaced through ACT did.

I had installed a Autoexe cluth set with flywheels and counter weight. The throw out bearing had been replaced with a solid bushing which come with the package. After I engage the gear, there is a ssshhhhhhhh sound when driving. is that normal?

well, they got me the wrong bolts actually ... the shop who did the install was like wtf ?

then they found some bolts that fits ...

and Jason sent me Some right bolts for free and I will reinstall it as soon as I hit 60K miles. (thats when I do RB rotor upgrades too)

intake will give more then exhaust on an RX-8.... is that what your asking?


CSL, did you mean they gave you a solid PILOT bushing (rather then a bearing) or did you really mean throw out bearing? solid t/o bearing would make no sense at all. a PILOT bushing is fine. I actually took the bearing out of my RX-7 because it kept failling and replaced it with a bushing.

The Rx8 is a drag car, no doubt about it, it can't handle worth a ****, can't drift, can't turn at 30 miles per hour, I don't know what you guys are talking about here, it does 0-60 in less than 3 seconds, but the rear tires last 10k miles, it is a good overall coupe. The convertible version is a bit slower, but it still pwns..........................

I was going to go for Fidenza but I got the ACT for 300 including counter balance.

Flywheel question?

With FI, I understand the lighter flywheel to be less of of a night and day effect with the extra torque and HP. I would like some input on if this is true, to what degree, and why?

And based on that answer would it still be a top recommended "FI" upgrade and should it be done before or after going FI?
