Your 2000 miles away. That would be a hell of a commute.

I just confirmed that my test specimen will be available in three weeks for a compression test and the header test. Given that it already has the BHR Ignition System (otherwise an all-stock 40th Ann. Ed.), and low mileage, it should serve as a great candidate for the header test. If I get satisfactory results the header goes into production.
by then ...

PICS! OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN !

Are you using 'pistonhaters' 40th Anniversary RX8 out there in Arizona ? Just curious.

My 40th AE is the car Charles mentioned above.

We determined it would be a good platform for testing the long tube header because the car is relatively unmolested, lol, and also because of the low mileage. The only "mod" so far is the BHR ignition system. Other than that, the car is essentially stock.

Curious to see what readings we'll get from the dyno.

Hi pistonhater, your car is a good choice for this testing. I look forward to the results. Be sure to pass along some photos of the long tube header, if you can. lol

Seemed much calmer than expected, wondering what system was on the car pre dyno to compare.

The car had the original oem stock exhaust. I know the owner and the car, a low mileage 2008 40th AE RX8 .

BHR Long Tube Header Dyno Run

Ok boys and girls...

Here's a few pics for those of you who hate Facebook.

The facility had all kinds of interesting projects going on

Here's a few vids

In regards to the sound, the car was significantly louder with the long tube header. It was hard to capture the tone of it with an old beat up iPhone. But it was a great sound, certainly different than factory.

About Numbers and Dyno Charts/Graphs: I will not make any comments about anything specific until Charles finishes analyzing the data and publishes the figures himself. There are so many variables, and I do not have enough knowledge about dyno graphs to be able to offer a substantial analysis. But this I can say:

-The hp gains were significant, above and beyond the expectations.... to the point that even the general manager of the facility became very impressed with the before/after readings. Now, we are talking about a top pro facility here. This was no ghetto dyno room run by monkeys without experience.

-Whatever the dyno data means ultimately, keep in mind that my car has relatively low miles, the engine is in good overall health and I am running a BHR ignition kit. You might get different results with an old/tired engine with weak ignition, other issues, etc.

The power gains were there and they were real. In terms of how much and at what range, again, I'll let Charles talk about that when time is due.

Overall, it was a great experience. First time I went for a dyno run on my RX8. It was a good learning opportunity to see the specific points were my car makes power and where the power starts dropping. Now I have a better understanding of what the Renesis can do and cannot do. It also gave me a better understanding of the various RPM ranges.

Those who install this long tube header in their RX8s will be up for a pleasant experience

Great post pistonhater, I am already jealous of you. I want my 40 AE RX8 to have one too. Can't wait until the testing is complete and production can begin of the finished product. Charles can sign me up right now for one !

Best to you all out there in Arizona.

Thanks man.

My car is back to normal with the OE exhaust manifold. I wish i could run one of these long tube headers myself permanently. But this is way too much for what i need in my weekend car.

If you think you might order one from BHR, keep in mind this might be a bit overkill for a street driven car. If you race, auto cross or go to the track then it would make more sense. Plus you have to be careful if your state has emision tests.

Where logs pulled while on the Dyno? Curious how the center tapped O2 placement compared to the OE placement regarding AFR.

If at some point in the future if someone wanted to install the header, would a lift be necessary, or would it be possible to get it on using only jackstands?
