just so you guys know colored lights are illegal in SC for four years I have had green corners, parking lights and HID low beams, I never got pulled over until this past week driving through downtown simpsonville. so just a heads up, oh yeah it also carries a $235 fine

 

Colored anything other than yellow, orange and white...HIDs are a different story, depends on the cop, and is easily fought in court due to the fact that all kinds of cars come with all different shades (examples: IS 300s come with yellow fogs, most new cars come with hyper white, or light blue (6300K-8000K) and some Nissans come with purple-tinted 8000Ks).

You can only have red or orange shades in the rear unless you are in reverse, and in that case it has to be white.

Most cops won't pull you over for green, purple, or pink as long as they don't flash...but some will. IMO, it's rediculous to drive on the road with those color turn signals anyway, as it's asking for unnecessary attention. Save that **** for car shows and meets, where all the 16 year olds with civics have pink tail lights because they bought the wrong bulb for their cheap "Euro" tail-lights.

Beautiful car, BTW. I actually missed buying a '96 Supra by a week. I started looking for a car after my buddy totaled my Evo...and a buddy of mine told me about this green Supra in Savanna. Blown engine, but woulda been a good starter. When I finally settled with the insurance and called the guy, he had sold it a week earlier.

I like Roxy (my RX-8)...but I can't wait to get a engine tunability option to boost her, though...thread here...

ok not too many around here with rx-8s but your car looks great i kind of stop working on my 8 (her name is roxy too lol) once i got my supra. But sadly its now time to let her go... the Supra, i'm keeping my 8 and hopefully boosting her again. i had it boosted before i got the Supra and then sold the tubro kit.

I purchased my first RX-8 today in Saluda. I go to school in Columbia but I live in Aiken for the summer. I got a great deal on my 04 8 but it needs some work. Anybody in the Aiken area that is experienced working on RX-8s?

 

Hey bro I live in aiken, but go to school down in charleston. I haven't had any work done on my car in aiken but I know stokes mazda in charleston did me quite well replacing my short block. What all is wrong with your 8?

Haha my 8 is also named Roxy....well she was till the gf decided to get a dog and name it roxy so I had to rename her Roxanne.

 

I dont have any mechanical problems at this point (knock on wood). I need to get my light bulbs replaced in my headlights,a new drivers side window motor, id like to install an audio link for an ipod, and I might replace or recovermy center console. I may try to do some of out myself...wanna come help?

 

Haha sure! I got the dealer to put some new HID's in for me when i had my engine rebuilt since it took 2 weeks longer than they thought. I was going to do the ipod link but the stock radio sucks soo much(especially for how high MSRP was) that im just gonna save the money and put in a double din HU.

You see I work at the Bi-lo, the Gamecock one on Divine street, and I was out getting buggys and all a sudden I hear you peelin out from behind the store real fast. I thought, "man thats a nice 8." I have a nordic green 8, i park it close to the road so everyone can see it lol. Anyways if it wasnt you then im mistaken.

Haha, that prolly was me, I find random (crowdless) places in Columbia to do some slides and what not...kinda hard getting used to RWD again. I think I saw your car a few times on my way to/from Advanced Auto.

There's a few around here...mostly girls. My friend even said to me "Wow, my girlfriend has that car, but yours looks different!" (Hers is a white 2004-08, Auto).

I am moving to Charleston in probably just over a month. Is anyone nearby... "active"? By that I mean, Autocross, PDX/HPDE, Time Trial, or just general endless modding?

I will definitely be autocrossing CS and STX as well as driving the various road courses in the region (Chin or NASA). I also will be looking for people interested in getting a team together for the Grassroots challenge (for maybe a 1st gen 7) and various other gasoline fueled projects.

Basically I am 24 with means and motivation but will be soon without any of my current car-friends or contacts, and looking to hit the ground running (or driving).
