NASA May 20/21 at Roebling Road
L8- (or anyone) In the photo above, is the long straight broken up by the triangular "kink" you see or is it the full-length straight, for the NASA event?
PS- Never been to Roebling ....yet!

Are you joining us for this?
Thanks for the info- Can't make this one- it's 5 hours + from Chapel Hill. (VIR is only 1 hr. 20 minutes, though
). I'll be returning to VIR w/ www.mazdadrivers.com in June, though.
Is anyone going to Carolina Motorsports Park on Friday, May 19?

I haven't done any lapping days with the 8. I love Roebling and it's been good to me with the CF. The only problem for you guys who haven't been there, it EATS tires. The long sweeping turns really build up the heat if you're gettin it thru them. I don't have extra wheels and tires and I'm not sure I want to eat my F1s with only 10K on them. The fuel cell is dead on my CF, so it's time to take it out and send it to FuelSafe. It's been sitting since my sequential daughters started college in 99. Just wrote the last check to daughter junior the first of the month, so IT'S PLAYTIME!!!!
I did get all the turns at speed on a drive around at Road Atlanta, following a Porsche driver, at last year's Mitty. We both would back way up from the cars in the line and then stand on it. Every time by the flagstand I was expecting "old black" with a shake of the fist from the marshall. Turns out it was an old friend corner worker who recognized me.
Where do you have to go to sign up?

Another thing for you guys.
There are two places you DO NOT SCREW UP at Roebling. I'm sure all the instructors will tell you about it, like every 36 seconds. The last turn onto the front straight, soem call it turn eight, us old timers call it nine. Interesting for a track that only has six turns.........
Anyway, if you go wide and drop a wheel off the outside of the track coming out onto the straight, STAY OFF THE TRACK with the outside wheels, lift off gently, and ease those wheels back onto the track. EVERY WEEKEND I have ever been to Roebling, and thats about thirty of them, someone has tried to turn the car back onto the track. The tires grab the surface and the car turns directly into the inside wall separating the pits from the front straight. This is no ****, it happens at least once every event. It is REALLY BAD for your paint job!
The other place is similar, coming out of "The Bowl" which is turns six and seven. Seven closes up on you in a very sneaky manner. If you drop those outside wheels off the track surface, do the same thing as above. A jerk of the wheel there will put you across the track into the soft stuff and on your head. It's not as common as the inner wall out of nine, but it happens alot. I've seen several formula and sports racing cars on their head there, and believe me, your 8 will roll alot easier than they do.
Roebling is an easy track to drive and a real SOB to master, you'll turn in way to early for every turn, so have lots of fun if I don't make it and remember, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

I'm sure if you talk to Julie and tell her why she'll let you reschedule.

Not only am I coming, but my wife is coming, and she is siked...........(pause) about shopping on the riverfront, while I get track. Who cares, she will be at the track some, probably more than enough.
.
Lego, you not bring the 7 to this? That car would be fast with a good set of slicks on this momentum track.

My wife received her flowers from the Ga RX8 club yesterday evening. I want to really THANK YOU (everyone) for this. Means a lot. Really nice set up-came in box with nice vase, instructions on how to make the flowers last longer, flower food included etc. Once again you guys are great. I couldnt ask for better brothers(and Pam --sister).
She started chemo last week and has had some rough days which now are starting to get a little better. Chemo is not for wimps! Still the prognosis is solid and good. Thats the main thing.
I hope to make the Roebling and I think I will be able too.
Guys check out a thread I started in the competition section concerning gauge readings etc.
our water temp gauge is a dummy also! Valuable info on that thread and I will not track my car again without using a heavier wgt oil and a real water temp gauge on my car. It surprised me. Seriously check it out.

Glad she's on the road to recovery OD. We haven't stopped thinking about her. Keep us updated please.
I'm also very interested in your gauges. I'm going to set up 3 for the RX-7. Oil Temp, Oil Pressure, and Water Temp. The RX-7 already actually has a real quantitative oil pressure gauge, but the values are pretty wide apart. I'd like to have a 3-gauge autometer cluster too. May have to reapply to the 8.
OT - Hows this pic for inspiration? Wouldn't it be cool to leave such a picture as your track addiction legacy for others to marvel at. The BMW 2002tii was once my favorite car. I think it looks badass to this day.
