Hey guys! I will be relocating to Charlotte NC in July, and will be looking to attend some track events soon after I'm sure. We're very active in the SoCal track scene currently, so I'm interested to see what you have out there. What groups does everyone prefer to run with, and what tracks are your favorites? Hope to meet some of you soon!

You are moving to an area that has a great group for tracking. TrackAddict is our most active tracker. You can tell by his list above your post.

Tracks:
Road Atlanta
Barber Motorsport Park
Roebling Road
Carolina Motorsport Park

Organizations:
NASA
BMW
PBOC
SeatTime
Chin
Mustang Club
SCCA

Since you are up in the Carolinas you are going to find a LOT of great tracks at your disposal such as VIR and Mid Ohio... sweet!

It's allways good to have another RX-8 in the Charlotte area! I've been going to the NASA-Southeast events with the GA crew. In addition to the list above, MazdaDrivers does events at VIR every so often. I've been wanting to go to one of those. CMP is close by and they are also building a new road course near Charlotte called High Rock Raceway. Looks like it is going to be really nice.

Hey man, I live just south of Charlotte, about 10m away. Although I don't have an 8, feel free to stop by one weekend and ask all the questions you want about this area and tracking. Although this year has been challenging for me to get to the track, in previous years I was averaging about 22 events per year. No, not days, events .

Drop me a PM when you get into this area, I lived in Charlotte for a number of years, so I know that scene pretty well too.

FYI - I'm going to be instructing at Barber with PBOC the end of March. There are still openings for all groups. Great group to run with.

I moved to Charlotte area recently and I'm new to the forum (used to be a Solstice owner but I'm getting an 8 this week to run in BS). I am active with SCCA Solo II and have done a few T-n-T track days and a Barber School at Road America. I'd like to run an HPDE or 2 this year and it looks like this was the thread to read. Thanks for the info guys and hopefully I'll see you out there.

Yeah we've been keeping an eye on the High Rock site, I know it's supposed to be a members track but hopefully they will run some non-member events as well. We just attended an event this past weekend at a similar track (country-club type), Spring Mountain outside Vegas, with our usual group. It was a blast.

What are your impressions of Lowe's Motor Speedway course? It will be our local track but I'm not expecting too much of it... Oval courses aren't that exciting after a few laps, lol.
