Rick should be firing up the dyno here soon to test some bridge port stuff for Jim. He's been flow bench testing for almost a month now. Maybe you'd be interested in being here when he's renesis testing perhaps. Let me know what tickles your fancy. A Downing shop tour can of course always be arranged also.

To get back to the original point, Dennis Spencer never said they are going to use a 4 rotor ... just hinted at it as a possibility. There's no reason why they couldn't it's totally legal in their class. The problem is that it adds weight to an already heavy motor, and throws off chassis balance. But, since the cars main problem right now is being a bit down on power compared to the other class competitors, I would speculate that a 4 rotor is in the works for 2006.

I too would love to see the development of a 3 rotor side-port exhaust motor from Mazda, although it still wouldn't create the power this motor can. Instead I'd like to see it mainly because it would affirm Mazda's dedication to the rotary, since tool-up and manufacturing would be an extremely expensive proposition. And if it was created, it would obviously find a home in a road-going car at some point.

 

I hope bach and cosmo do well at pettit lemans, maybe get invited to france.

can you use a R20B on the gt-2 class? I think its time somebody give porche a good challenge.

What's an R20B? They can run a 20B in the GT. I believe Speedsource is working on one and that Downing provided the bodywork design for Mazdaspeed/ Mazda Motorsports Development.

Its that for gram am series or american le mans? in gram am rolex gt class theres allready a team that runs a 20b rx-8.

The R20b is what they are calling the 3 rotor racing engine use on the courage # 65 in the american lemans series, is a combination of parts from a renesis and a 13g 3 rotor racing engine of the 80's.
