so this ends on Friday. I noticed the offered a 17x10.5 +57 in the F14 Drag Pack configuration. Which Forgestar noted at a 1530 lbs/wheel rating and said no problem when I inquired about using it for autox. The MSRP price is $350./each, so using this sale you can get a set for $840 + shipping. Vorshlag confirmed they qualified for the sale. So I’m thinking about ordering a set for local stuff. Still a bit heavy at approx 19 lbs each.

thanks for sharing! However, when I ran 17x10 +50 and a 255/40/17 street tire I experienced rubbing against the shock tunnel. This setup seems very inboard for the rear...?

Sorry, I just assumed everyone knew from past conversations in this thread that you would have to run spacers to compensate. Probably 15mm or so. The choices over 10” wide for a 17” wheel are very few and far between, heavier too as I recall. The Wedssport SA-72R Wide Spec wheel is 17x10.5 +44 so a smaller spacer is needed, but weighs 21.5 lbs and sells for around 345./each.

I had some inner liner rubbing for that width/offset as you noted, but nothing that I was concerned about. Generally speaking you’re not usually at high speed in full steering lock unless you’re in deep doodoo. The same tire on 10.5” is going to position the sidewall further in some. My main concern is for the inner barrel corner not to rub on the control arms, swaybar, etc. first.

I was very lucky recently to come across a clean used set of VR CE28N 17x10.0 +44 2016 production. On my inaccurate scale they're coming in between 16.8-17.0 lbs ea. The plan is to run moderate spacers.

And if I may share an impression on the quality of Rays forging. Ime this is probably the finest manufactured wheel I've owned to-date and I'd have to note it is very interesting to compare the hub of this Volk to that of my Advan RS-DF. The approach taken in machining techniques are quite different.

Yeah, great wheel; light and strong, though expensive. The issue is we can’t get wider sizes in 17” and the wider sizes in 18” have fubar backspacing.

The one issue you might have to watch for with a 275/40 tire and spacers is hitting the pinch weld at in lower backside outer wheel well. It might clear without spacers and not with them depending on how thick they are. The taller tire may have overhead rubbing too depending on ride height/spring rate/swaybar rate too.

Did you end up with the forgestars?
They seem like one of the cheaper options available that have favorable offsets. The 18x10 42 offset is reported to be under 21lbs.

Flowone has 18x10 - 18x11 with good offset also. Found these on tire rack. $280 and 22lbs

Oh man, that has to be devastating . Looks like some pretty unique parts on there. Not sure how they they can pull that off unless it goes out of country. Did you have it in storage or something? Looks like maybe it had been a while since you checked up on it.

if you’re asking me; no. I already have multiple wheel sets including a set of Bogart 3-pc wheels in those same dimensions. I was tempted, but decided to focus on other things first. Still waffling between 17” and 18” too. So better to do some testing first than lock in to something I won’t be using later.

Last night I tore down a LIM from an S2 motor that had been found to have low compression. The motor condition was obvious inside of it; valves all still moved easily, but what a mess from all the combustion blowback. Compared to the S1 LIM, in addition to eliminating two fuel injectors (now just Pri and Sec rather than P1, P2, Sec) it also has a sensor on each APV barrel that can detect if they’re in the open/closed position. I’ll be wiring those into Adaptronic ECU for logging and failure purposes.

Guess I’ll have to submit that one to then.

Since I have five of them laying around and it fits my intended plan, I’m going to throw my lot in with the S1 transmission. I would have preferred the S2 lower 1st gear for getting off the line, but 3rd gear when/if needed is a much worse situation.

So I have a used S2 trans with around 55k miles I may sell off soon. Hasn’t been used by me since I bought it locally from a 2009 part-out. Installed new reverse & neutral switches and a new tail-shaft seal. Also have a new shifter plate and OE shifter for it. Just thought I’d mention it here first before posting it up later in the forum FS area.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, lol. I never gave an S2 a try though, but I suspect it’ll blow after a year or two of abuse as well.

At least the rules have some allowances now for making strength-only drivetrain improvements. My new trans shipping box since I expect to eventually be having a good spare on hand at all times. So likely to be sending a few out for full rebuilds. It’s an Igloo 152 Qt, usually have it in stock at Academy sports + outdoors for $80. Pretty close to perfect fit. I put a piece of 1/4” plywood in the bottom and also have cardboard and heavy packing paper along to fill in the gaps along with wrapping it in shipping blankets. Just FYI for anyone else.

It's still showing in the queue to make it into Fastrack, so just be patient.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. It just wasn’t clear if ever was submitted or not even though you said it was discussed by the ****. I can’t check on status without knowing the letter #.

It’s seems like there might possibly be some kind of discussion or issue going on with it then? It may not even matter after I rework the fuel pump system. In the process of redoing it all once the recently ordered parts show up. I’d still use hydramats if possible, but it likely won’t matter much with the new system until getting very low volume.

As I said, it should appear in a Fastrack soon (i.e. it was approved but unofficial until posted).

We don't introduce rules clarifications unless someone writes in.

Unfortunately, I don't have any control of this stuff once it leaves the AC.
