These tires have at least 85 plus runs on them...including some brutal runs at El Toro for the Pro solo. I've heard that El Toro is harsh on tire wear.
Speed ran with 30 psi front, 26 in the rear. I ran my first lap at that same pressure, but dropped the front to 29 for my final runs. The tires just seemed to never get warm. In checking my psi between runs, I was actually losing pressure...how far, I really don't know...Speed just kept telling me I was below what I wanted the tires to be at.
The course was actually interesting as there were a lot of "blind" corners...by blind, I am referring to the turns where we were doubling back on ourselves. The S-shaped section was fast, but there was a bump that kept unsettling the car as you were leaving the left hander and going into the right handed part....I almost lost it there on my third run..ended up drifting much of that section before I regained things.

I do also have to say...it was unfortunate that we didn't make the white car our autocross car....it is just so much more responsive then the black 8. The white one makes the black one feel like a tank. Weight really makes the difference between the GT (with all the damn body kit too) vs the Base.

Yes, that was the last event for both Speed and I in the RX8....so, we may have to switch over to a Mazda Cup for 2008.
In looking at finances, there really isn't a way for Erica and I to keep either of the cars as the payments are too high on both cars. We are planning a family and both want Erica to stay home. I have to stretch my salary a bit, and it looks like I may need to get a cheap commuter.
I'm fortunate that Speed was building the Miata and offered me a spot. The other option was to codrive with Rick... Erica and I were trying to come up with a plan that would allow us to keep the white 8.....but at most, we would only be able to keep it for a couple months into the 2008 season. So, instead of splitting points between two classes, and leaving Rick out to dry....we decided that we would try and sell both 8's now.
But as many know...the market for the 8 is bad, so it is going to be difficult to get rid of two cars.

Sorry I missed the last RX-8 Cup event. I woke up Sunday with a crooked neck and couldn't get out of bed! Congrats to ULLLOSE on the RX-8 Cup and to Keith on BSP. Good luck Keith and Casey on the CSP Miata ride -- should be fun!

Final 2007 RX-8 Cup standings: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...s-u1RPAzVbOnFQ
Keith was fast enough this weekend to pull himself into 2nd place, only 0.6 of a point ahead of Casey.
Sadly, it's looking like we may have to retire the cup for next year...

It an issue of insurance costs, monthly payments, as well as increasing costs for fuel. I do drive over 75 miles each day and my fuel bill has gone from 250-400 per month in the last year.

Son of a B$&CH.... I drove my car today (first time in like a month) and I am jsut starting to get the gear grind. I was on the freeway and I went form 3rd to 4th with a nice little gear grind. twice in a row.
Called the AMSOIL dealer and told him about keiths (about how it was pretty much undrivable) and told him about mine. I told him Keith put the Royal Purple in and the problem went away. I also told him that I have a race this weekend and I will be pulling it out as well since I do not want grinding issues. He is making a call AMSOIL to find out what is going on. he will let me know.

I just ordered two qt of MTG, but also have Red Line MT-90 to swap, just in case. I did read that ULLLOSE favors GO Pure Power, though it's GL-5. Any updates on your talk with Amsoil dealer is welcome!

it was the fluid that is kinda clear. NOT the severe gear, but the "trick" stuff that is supposed to be pretty bad ***. (if that helps)
no update from him. I didnt really pursue the issue since there is no way really to pursue it without suing. and since I didn’t pay for the rebuilt, there is no sense in pushing it further. :-/

It may not have been a Cal Club RX8 Cup...but there sure are plenty of 8's in B-stock to warrant the idea. Maybe you could throw around the idea as you guys are really competitive. Maybe it could be a combination of results from the SD Tour, Prosolo and Nationals in Topeka....?
That to me, would be a true test of a 3 time National Champion.
So, when we see you in January in Fontana, do you want to be called "Jason" or "Pete" (as in 3-Pete).

Not sure you will see me at the Jan, or many Cal Club events in 08'. Sun is Jennifer's bday, so not sure on that. This year I kind of think I will stick to SD events. CC made that an easy choice with the new price setup that has me paying $10 more per event as an SCCA member than last year.

yeah there seems to be a lot of people upset about it. I dont think its cool at all either.
but how do they have you paying ten more then normal? I thought it was still $25? (plus $15 if you need the SCCA weekend pass, but you dont need that)
EDIT: oh I see
$30 - SCCA members & points card holders
$35 - SCCA members only
$40 - No points card or SCCA membership
so thet raised the base price $5 for us card holders, then tack on another $5 for non card holders but still SCCA members.
wow going off the above if you are not an SCCA member, you would pay $40 PLUS the $15 weekend fee. so it would cost $55 fo someone to come and play! WOW!
Thats crazy! I know my dad would love to come and play once or twice, but not for that price! thats alot of money for 3 minutes of fun.
hell $30 is a lot of money for 3 minutes of run time. thats $10 a lap. AND I had to pay the $80 SCCA fee.
why dont I just go road racing. it would cost less. (ok not really, but still.) This is supposed to be low cost grass roots racing isnt it? $10 a lap in its cheapest form is NOT low cost. and thats not counting the $80 a year SCCA fee, OR the $35 a year CSCC fee. if all you did was race, what does that break down to a lap, like ~$14.
