It might make that difference.

I encourage anyone willing to take the time to provide before and after pics to do so. My USB borescope was $20 or so from Amazon, and I certainly don't have to have a monopoly on willing to try stuff.

One option that I considered, but ultimately discarded, was using a spray decarb chemical through the spark plug ports directly onto the seals, rotating the engine so that the seals could be optimally hit one at a time.

The reason I decided against this is due to the danger of having a chunk of carbon break off and not dissolve, then break a seal on next start up.

I also considered the ATF fluid soaking method, but couldn't reconcile the expected volume of smoke with what my neighbors would be ok with

Random sidenote, jdm rx8 tuners (RevoTune Japan specifically) use steam cleaning w/ water for decarbing quite frequently as opposed to things like seafoam/atf/etc.

Given that 1 gallon of distilled water is ~$1, and 1 gallon of seafoam is ~$87 + tax and they produce about the same result, I can certainly understand that choice.

Lol just did mine at my buddy's house the other night, I wanted to take pictures so bad of how horribly it fogged out his neighborhood. lol
