Not sure if this is a repost - the September 05 issue of Wheels mag features a turbocharged RX8, developed by Mazda Australia special projects team.

No mention of power/torque, but they did some acceleration runs.
Best time achieved for 0-100kmh (62mph) was 5.4 seconds and quarter mile of 13.9 secs (terminal speed of 105+ mph). They felt the car could have gone faster but didnt want to fry the standard clutch.

More interesting is the comparative in-gear times:

80kmh - 120kmh (50mph - 75 mph)

Gear / Turbo / Standard

3rd 3 secs / 4.6secs
4th 4 secs / 7.2 secs
5th 5 secs / 9 secs
6th 6.4 secs / 11.1 secs

Uses a Garrett GT30 turbo and a Chiptorque-modified (?) engine management system.

Pity they have no plans of building this car for sale.

 

This car will be coming to our RX8 National meet October 22. I cannot wait to see it and the other turbo/Supercharged 8's that will be on display there. Going to be a hell of a weekend! :D :D
