OK I'm pretty freakin excited here.
I went into the newsagent down stairs and thumbed through the latest wheels and to cut a long story short, Mazda Australia have developed an RX8 Turbo that the Wheels guys got to test.
0-100 in 5.7 without sacrificing any drivability.
Nice fins in the bonnet too!

Thats all I got to read before the chinese lady said "****-off or buy"
well, she didnt really say that but I could tell she was thinking that.

I'm going to pick it up this afternoon and post as much info as I think is worthy.

The rich lawyer above have subscription to all these wonderful magazines. A poor doctor like me can only afford a coffee at the Borders.

 

and a poorer dentist like me has to rely on donations from patients of 2 year old magazines for the waiting room.....I'll read about it in 2 years

 

Dentist poor ha ha ha , i have to go overseas to get my teeth fixed , i was quoted 2,000 per tooth for a lousy bridge , fillings are 180 each .

For 4000 i am going for 3 weeks staying at one of the best places on a small island in sabang (phillipines )getting my 10 fillings bridges, root canals done and getting as much R & R as I want going deep sea and ***** diving treasure hunting eating the nicest fresh seafood and drinking the San Miguel beers at 1 dollars each .

I WORKED OUT I AM SAVING MONEY BY NOT BEING ON THE GOLDCOAST :D

I noted he said he got 5.4 0-100 but screwed up the gears to make the full quarter.

Sounds good, and those 4-pot brakes do nothing.

 

I was as excited as StratoMike when I saw a copy of September's wheels mag, unfortunately i didn't have any cash on me, so i'll get a copy tonight. Can't wait either.

Ezzy the pics in Wheels, is of a black one, which when i saw it, it instantly reminded me of Taka's car, excluding the bonnet scoops. I do like your pics of the red version though :D

 

I thought the most interesting thing was that the turbo RX8 can accelerate faster from 80-120km/h in 6th gear than a stock one can in 4th gear.

The 0-100km/h times are nothing to get too excited over IMHO.

remember a while ago DMRH posted a "spotted" thread that he spotted a blk version of the MA turbo mobile :p

-Mag car is a black example, Mazdaspeed spoiler front/rear
-It's the Horsley built car from the Motor show (number 2)
-Power output: 'way more' than standard (gee thanks)
-Garrett GT30 dual ball bearing turbo
-Chiptorque engine management system
-secondary fuel injectors replaced with those from auto due to higher capacity (what are they again?)

And the good bits:
Rolling 80-120k/h acceleration:
3rd: 3.0
4th: 4.0
5th: 5.0
6th 6.4

0-100 5.7s, quarter in 13.9

compared to :

3rd: 4.6
4th: 7.2
5th: 9.0
6th: 11.0

for the stocker..

Expected date for limited release: NEVER.

Roll on Hymee and Rotormaster, any updates? What about this 'Interceptor' MicroTech bastardisation they have released in the US?

I'm a subscriber so I get the issue a few days before most newsagents.

And I've never had a useless drive in the 8!! :D :D :D

In fact, I regularly drive straight past my house to my fave local blat road, especially if I've been stuck behind some slow morons on my street (which is a great hill climb road BTW).

As i have said in another thread a few weeks ago, my mate who works at Mazda Australia told me both turbo RX8 are just GREAT! and he is proud of the cars because he is one of the guys who've been working on both turbo 8s from the first day. i wish he can take me for a drive on one of those 2 cars sometime...
