BTW, are you saying that Japanese companies can dilute the shares by splitting them..
so as a simple example ...1 share @ 1000 yen is split to 2 a@ 500 yen.
Do existing stakeholders "benefit" from the increase in share numbers.
or I hope you don't meant they can turn my example from 1 share into 2 and the value of the two shares goes to 2000 yen.....that would be illegal...print your own money...
I am not aware of the media battle you refer to...
Edit..did not read..my bad.

US makers are going so well they have gone cap in hand to your Administration for help, something they said they would never do...

Aston Martin... it's no big sales cash cow, but I didn't think that the current lineup was so bad.
Jaguar... what can one say? That brand hasn't been doing well loooong before Ford. I suppose it has unsuccessfully been trying to do what Volvo has...
Volvo... not so bad I suppose. They are definitely making more interesting cars than they did before Ford. Their prices are a bit nuts though.
Ford... they're trying. The Mustang is doing great, and probably one of the best made yet. Some may say "that's not saying much", but the car does what it was designed to do... it's a pony car/muscle car... not a Corvette type sports car. Different strokes for different folks. The Fusion... I don't think it looks bad on the exterior. The interior could use a little more personality and a MT. A SVT model would be good for this lineup. Ford pickups are still doing well and are actually pretty nice... although the new Toyota and Nissan full size are going to give them a run for their money. SUV... still one of the better in the market, and we need less of them anyway...
Mercury... we'll see if the plan that bascho mentioned pans out (female oriented brand). I have my doubts.
Lincoln... Ford seems to be really trying here. I just wondering if they aren't missing the mark that they should be shooting for... first Caddie and then BMW.
Land Rover... like Jaguar (and most British brands) wasn't doing so hot to start with.
Ford Australia... well... that sucks. I can understand about costs, but I really think it's a mistake for Ford not to develop a new RWD platform to use in various models. Just like not developing a new pushrod V8 was a mistake as well.

Service Experts: RX8 specialist position
I mentioned this to the Mazda service center in my area and they dismissed it as unecassary, now I won't mention names because, honestly, they treat me very WELL, and I have nothing but good things to say about them and my dealer.
In any case, the thought occurred to me that what they might try and do is:
"Produce one RX8 specialist position in each shop" What's the big deal you might say? it's called "visible client assurance" in the form of a badge, or a special hat, or something visible that achieves and indicates that one of the service reps, has gone to seminars, dealing specifically with the evolving maintenance of the RX8s.
His sole purpose in life, is to educate and encourage the perspectives of not only his teammates, but of current Mazda RX8 owners.
Why not have a specialist for each car then? Well lets be honest here, the RX8 is a finely tuned high performance rotary car, not a regular piston-banging engine block. As we all have heard with the RX-7s, you need some expert know-how to maintain these beautiful rocket machines.
That's my vote.

it's a shame when you find a car you really like and have nothing but problems with it. i have had my car in 5 times after they did that emission recall in sept. it still has hesitation problems and my check engine light has come on 3 times, but the dealer says the light was not on long enough to register anything. lets talk about dealer/customer service! seems like other 8 owners are a little upset!!! i'm billr's other half, ferret.

So far I have nothing but good things to say about the car and the dealer. I bought an 04 VR 6mt from the local small Mazda dealership and am driving it through the winter. Starts every time, runs well. One CEL that was fixed by updating the flash. I need a new heater which is back ordered and covered under the extended (transferred) warranty of the previous owner.
So far, so good!

Dealerships are like our members... each is different.
I'm on my third rotary vehicle. My 1st was an 93 RX7 Loaded.
I swore I'd never own another rotary because they're like a beautiful woman,
high maintenance.
Then I saw the RX8... Almost gave me a woody :]
I'm on my second 8 now and even when it's "not perfect", I'm still not giving up
on her...
I've had all the flashes. I wish the mileage were better & the power was be more.
I knew what I was getting into when I purchased my Mazda(s).
As for my Dealership, they have their good days and their bad days...
.
.
just like me.
PS: The Z owners, Audi owners and the Vette owners have their problems too.

I can understand their frustrations. From what I could remember, they were wanting to "overlook" some things such as brakes. I am a car salesman and I have had customers turn in horrible surveys for completely unfounded reasons. In a lot of cases it was the customers fault. A person's perception is everything. I have had customers not tighten the gas cap and raise hell because of the OBD light came on. They decide that since it is not a Toyota or Honda that the car is junk, a lemon or unreliable. And it is a result of them not tightening a gas cap. Unfortuanantly they get the survey in and kill me on everything including thigs completely unrelated to the problem. People will buy one, hear about all the problems (founded or not) and assume they are having those problems and when they do have a small issue, they decide the whole car is junk.
So, I am not surprised at Mazda saying that. There have been times I wish I could have thrown out a survey or two. The thing is that there is no proof that they did that. From what I can remember, it was just mentioned. Quality and Customer Satifaction surveys are not usualy gathered and collected by the manufacturer but by an outside source such as J.D. Powers.

I never got a survey form from my last service (the engine examination recall), just a letter saying I would get one, so they may not even be sending them out. I showed them my cracked AC amp buttons and they were supposed to be getting parts to fix it (don't know what) but I haven't gotten any call or letter saying they are in. This has been since October or earlier. I keep forgetting to call them about it.

Two weeks ago I recieved a phone call from Mazda asking what I felt about my service. As it was not that good, so I stated a couple specific issues I had as it was not my intention to dealer bash. I was then asked what kind of car I had??? I figured they may have that info but I told the lady that I had a RX8 and then she thanked me for my time, rather short. Last friday I received a call from AAA asking me how my service was. I said I just recieved a call asking me how my experience was. She told me that my dealership was trying to be an AAA service center. I gave the same reasons my service was not pleasent and how my issues still remaind after at this time 7 trips for a total of 33 days. That same day I received a call from the service manager now wanting to take care of my issues and asked if I would reconciter my review to the auto club. I said no and I have gone to another dealer. Its when they want something they are willing to help.
I would like to see the video if someone could direct me to the link.

The reasoning was that it was unfair to dealers to measure their CARE score based on a car with an unfixable issue (the cold start flooding). But people within Mazda think that it wasn't the best idea; they should have just reduced its weight or changed the impact, but still retain the data in some manner.
You still have to treat your customer properly at a dealership even if there is a car with flaw such as the RX-8.
I would also love to see the link if anyone can PM it to me.

.:. causing mischief
i believe mazda pulled all of the copies when they heard it was made public. i dont know if anyone here actually saved it to their computer, but if so maybe they will send it to you if you ask nicely?
it's not a big conspiracy to keep it from people, just that i really dont know if anyone has it
