Ash, with all due respect, I can't let you off the hook.

You're trying to squeeze out of the fact that you are the very person who announced to the entire forum that, according to your sources in Australia, THE ROTARY IS DEAD.

In another thread, I was the first one on this forum to go ahead and predict that a new rotary, whether in 2010 or in the next evolution (around 2015), will be a hybrid with a Honda-type battery and not forced induction.

Here, I will predict that the RX7 name WILL BE BACK in that 2010 rotary car.

So we have a Japanese mag with photoshopped Kabura pictures and some speculation with on real facts. At least we only have a month or so to hopefully find out the truth.

The Mazda folks have not been real forthcoming at the SevenStock events.

Just say things like 'you will be pleased', and grin like Cheshire cats.

I am sure they will tell us all about it after it has been released at a show.

They again, I hope I am wrong.

yeah, you gotta think the timing is suspect. Will Mazda have this at SS? My guess is no, but there WILL be some new toy on the lot...somewhere.

Zoom, feel like going on a scavenger hunt?

We've decided to find Bernie with rotarynews, knock him to the ground, and then sit on him until he spills the beans about what he knows!

Why would they go with larger rotors and then a bigger transmission?

We already have a heating problem.

This option would give us less air flow.

If you think it's hot in the Cockpit now and the A/C don't work....................

i don't necessarily think a larger engine would produce all that much heat compared to the current 13b.
Yes, it'll be larger, BUT airflow might improve since the hot air won't be as compact.
I'm sure mazda will look into these issus.

Besides, at the end of the day if I've got 325+ hp out of a stock Rotary...I won't be complaining about the heat.

Heat generated is based on power output not size.

I don't think the transmission would necessarily get larger. Just the bell housing bolt pattern.

In 2-3 years will 300hp even be enough to compete? I really don't see this thing weighing 2500lbs either. Guess we'll have to wait and see, but my guess is that by the time this comes out it'll still be labeled as under-powered by many Americans.

Maybe Mazda will put Dog gears in the new trans. I love that sound + they can hold more power (500+) like the Holinger used in the Pansport RX-8.

RG, now why would they use a different bolt battern for the new engine? Give!!

Here are all the theories I could come up with:

Hybrid, and the electric motor generator is behind the engine needing more space.

The engine and tranny will be mounted lower, making dry sump necessary. Allowing a still lower hood. The dry sump is possible because the it is also the MOP. This means a different axis for the tranny.

They want to stop current RX-8 owners from swapping in the new engine. The villains.

I am open to more rumors...
